‘Anbu Paalam’ a, NGO, celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with a function presided over by Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam on 4th Oct 2013 at SRM University Auditorium(which is the biggest in Asia), Chennai .
Mr. Kalyanasundaram started ‘Anbu Paalam’ in 1953 to serve as a bridge to match and link those who need help to those who are willing to help. Mr.Kalyanasundraman, a recipient of ‘Lifetime Service' from the Rotary International, highlighted the social services rendered by ‘Anbu Paalam’. Dr. Paari Vendar, Chancellor, SRM University, Padmashri Nalli Kuppusamy Chettiar and Dr.Pon Vaiko-vice chancellor, graced the occasion.

Dr.K.Balachandar, whose movie ‘Unnal Mudiyum Thambi’ was an inspiration for Mr.Kalyanasundaram to shape ‘Anbu Paalam’, was presented with a ‘Lifetime Achiever’ award by Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.
In acknowledgement of the support and assistance extended by ‘Indian Frontliners’ to ‘Anbu Paalam’ for the past 20 years, Dr .Kalam felicitated Indian Frontliners Founder Writer N.C.Mohandoss with a Momento and Gold Medal.
Indian Frontliners Kuwait is a non-profit organization affiliated to Indian Embassy in Kuwait since 1997 with a focused motto “to serve for the Needy”.
It has donated to Orphanages, Old age homes, Hospitals, Children education funds, National calamity redressel funds, Medical expenditure for needy, and till date the total contribution towards these noble cause is 1 Crore 40 lacs Indian Rupees. In addition it joins hand with Indian Embasy regularly and help the stranded workers in Kuwait .
‘Anbu Paalam’ activists Mrs.Vasanthi, Mr.K.C.Manivannan and Mr.A. Jamal Mohammed were also honoured in the function for their support to the social service activities of 'Anbu Paalam'.
Mr.Kalayanasundaram
He worked as a Librarian for 30 years. Every month in his 30 year experience(service), he donated his entire salary to help the needy. He worked as a server in a hotel to meet his needs. He donated even his pension amount of about ten lakh rupees to the needy.
He is the first person in the world to spend the entire earnings for a social cause. In recognition to his service, the American government honoured him with the ‘Man of the Millennium’ award. He received a sum of Rs 30 crores as part of this award which he distributed entirely for the needy as usual.
Mr.Kalyanssundaram, had a peculiar voice tone and elected to become a Librarian instead of a Lecturer. Depressed by his voice problem, he was on suicide-path when Mr.Tamilvanan, the well-known motivator of thousands of Tamilians through his magazine, gave him the confidence to carry his life forward.
Moved by his passion to help others, Super Star Rajinikanth adopted him as his father. He still stays as a bachelor and dedicated his entire life for serving the society.
