97-year-old Anant Bodas has once again proved that with strong will one can overcome achieve any fete.
Bodas, a Pune resident, participated in the national winning championship in Bhopal and won silver in 50 freestyle event. Till now he has won 22 medals in national level championship.
 
Talking to media, Anant said that he started swimming at the age of nine and this sport has help him fight his heart ailment and cancer.
 
After retiring from the forest department, Bodas developed heart ailment, for which he had to undergo bypass surgery, following which he turned to swimming to stay healthy.
 
He started taking part in swimming championship in 2001. In 2008 he was diagnosed of rectum cancer, but even this disease couldn't mar his spirit.
 
Delighted after winning his 22nd national medal, he said that swimming has helped him a lot even after suffering heart disease and cancer.
