Best Drama Award 2012 To United Visuals from MUDHRA a Renowned Cultural Organisation
The award with cash prize of rupees 10,000 were presented to Mr.Varad by Shri. Nalli Kuppuswamy Chettiar. Director Shri. S.P.Muthuraman, Shri A.Natarajan and Kumari Sachu felicitated. The function also marked conferment of NATAKA MUDHRA title on well known theatre and celuloid personality KUTTI PADMINI. . Incidentally Padmini is varad’s first heroiene in his first tv serial KALYANATHUKKU KAKYANAM in 1986. she remembered this on the stage in her speech too.
This award is for the play ENDRU THANIYIM INDHA SUDHANDHIRA DHAGAM written and staged by Shri Cho in 1971. He extended permission to TV Varadharajan’s United Visuals troupe in 2012 and they have already completed 75 shows. Special features of this award are:
1. This is chosen by the audience by poll after witnessing seven dramas at drama festival.
2. This script was written in 1971 and there was no change made to the script. Where as all the other dramas were written in 2012. It proves Shri Cho’s script holds top even after fourty years.
