MRS. SHANTHA MARIA JAMES BECOMES THE CHAIRPERSON OF GULF COUNCIL

The Management, Staff and Students of Indian Central School congratulates the Principal, Mrs. Shantha Maria James, for being appointed as the Chairperson of the Council of CBSE Affiliated Schools in the Gulf for the year 2012, which will be the Silver Jubilee year of the Gulf Council.

The 24th Annual Principals’ Conference took place in Qatar this year from 18th to 21st of January 2012.  Dignitaries present were H. E. Mr. E. Ahmad, Minister of State for External Affairs & HRD, India, Her Excellency Mrs. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, the Ambassador of India to Qatar, Madam Fouzia Al Khatar, Director of Private Schools, State of Qatar and Mr. Vineet Joshi, Chairman, Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.

The Gulf Council is an association of the Head of CBSE schools in the Gulf which has a total number of 124 schools under its wings. It comprises of schools from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. Its main objectives are to promote the areas of cooperation among member schools, to share expertise, publish / circulate relevant material / literature, to organize cultural, literary, educational, art, sport and other curricular activities, to discuss the common problems of the member schools and find / suggest ways and means for their redressal, to conduct joint examinations for Classes IX & XI or any other class as decided by the member schools, to organize / conduct In-service Training Programmes / Seminars / Workshops for the benefit of the teachers / staff working in the member schools and to convene Annual Conference of the Heads of the Schools and to undertake any other activity conducive to the upliftment of education.

By stepping on to the throne of the Chairperson, one more feather has been added in her cap.  Let Lord Almighty shower His choicest blessings on her to reach greater heights.
