India Doctors Forum (IDF), Kuwait

Organized its16th consecutive Ghabqa celebration on the 14th day of the holy month of Ramadan on Sunday 19th May at the Regency Hotel.

This is one of the most important event in the busy calendar of various activities conducted by IDF throughout the year. Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embass, Kuwait  Mr. Raj Gopal Singh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, whereas the President of Kuwait Medical Association (KMA) Dr. Ahmed Thuwaini Al Enezi was the Guest of Honour for the evening. Prominent among the dignitaries who attended the event were Honorary Ambassadors from Guyana, Khazakistan, Thaiwan, Directors and Chairpersons of various government and private hospitals, senior Kuwaiti Doctors, officials from the ministry of health and other ministries, Indian and Kuwaiti business community, prominent leaders of various Indian Associations in Kuwait and a large number of IDF members and their families enjoyed the evening interacting with each other in festive and holy spirit of Ramadan. The event started with the singing of the national anthems of Kuwait and India after a brief introduction by the master of ceremony Dr. Madhu Gupta, Vice President of IDF about the Gabqa as an integral part of Ramadan in the Middle East.IFL Kuwait job news

The event was blessed by a melodious recitation of a beautiful verse from the holy Quran and its very accurate English translation about the importance, giving respect and taking care of parents especially when they grow old by the young Izyan a student of 8th standard. Dr. Mohan Ram, General Secretary of IDF welcomed all the dignitaries and guests. The president of IDF Dr Surendra Nayak wished everyone a blessed Ramadan. He thanked the Amir, the Crown Prince, the government and the people of Kuwait for their continuous support and encouragement to the Indian Community in Kuwait and to IDF, its activities and members. He highlighted the continuous support and guidance for IDF received from the KMA to whom it is affiliated for all its activities.IFL Kuwait job news

He informed the gathering about sociocultural nature of the IDF and the various activities carried out by IDF such as 10 to 12 health camps every year for the needy, health seminars, cancer awareness program, school health campaigns, health quiz,annual health guide on varied health issues in simple language for the general public and some social, cultural and leisure activities for its members and their families.IFL Kuwait job news

Dr. Amir Ahmed, a very active member and former President of IDF eloquently presented a deeply spiritual message about the 5 pillars of Islam namely shahada, fasting, zakat, and haj. He also expounded upon the significance of fasting during Ramadan, linking the benefits of fasting on all the four components of good health i.e. the physical, mental, social and spiritual well being of a person and not merely an absence of disease as defined by World Health Organization. The Deputy Chief of Mission of Embassy of India in Kuwait Mr. Raj Gopal Singh in his brief address spoke eloquently about the excellent relations between India and Kuwait and their people. The guest of honour Dr. Ahmed Thuwaini Al Enezi was highly forthcoming and thankful about the honour. He spike from his heart about the tremendous work being done by Indian doctors and IDF in Kuwait. He mentioned that IDF is the most active association under the umbrella of KMA carrying out so many useful and productive activities throughout the year.IFL Kuwait job news

A number of Kuwaiti guests prominent amongst them DR. Mustafa Al Mousavi, Head of Organ Transplant Centre and Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Duaiz, Deputy CEO of KNPC spoke and praised highly about the hardworking, peace loving, tolerant, diligent, honest and law abiding nature of Indians making them the biggest and most sought after expat community in Kuwait and for the contribution they have made in development of their adopted country and a home away from home. Dr. Mustafa fondly recalled the historic bilateral and familial ties between the people of the two countries dating back to many decades even before discovery of oil from their personal connections and experiences.

Dr. Amal AlKhudr, Head of Department, Obstetrics & Gynecology at Farwaniya Hospital delightfully surprised everyone in the audience when she started her speech by greeting in excellent Hindi and then elaborating about the significance and message of Ramadan, and how much she enjoys the various functions organized by IDF. A highly informative and interactive quiz based on events, characters, and teachings of Quran related to Ramadan conducted by Dr. Madhu Gupta was the highlight of the day’s proceedings. The children of IDF members presented a very colourful fancy dress show depicting the colours and styles traditional attires from different regions of India. This particular segment brought lot of smiles, cheers, excitement and joy to everyone. All participating children were given special gifts, prizes for the three best costumes in less than 6 year and 6 to 12 years categories each. All children including those in the audience received the traditional girgiyan.

Finally, Dr.Diwakar Chaluviah, vice President of IDF gave the vote of thanks and expressed his sincere heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, guest of honour, distinguished Kuwaiti and Indian guests, IDF members their families for attending in large number, the members of the press, the staff and management of the Regency Hotel, and last but not the least the office bearers and executive members of IDF for and invited everyone present to enjoy the grand buffet dinner.
