IBPC Kuwait Attends ICC Global Business Summit in Mumbai, Signs Landmark MoU

IBPC ICC MOU Sign 01Mumbai, September 19, 2025 — The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) Kuwait joined global leaders at the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Global Business Summit, held on 18th and 19th September in Mumbai, marking ICC’s centennial year as India’s oldest chamber, founded in 1925 in Kolkata.

A key highlight of the summit was the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ICC and IBPC Kuwait. The agreement was formalized by Mr. Abhyudaya Jindal, President of ICC and Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, and Mr. Kaizar T. Shakir, Hon. Chairman of IBPC Kuwait. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr. S. K. Wadhawan, ICC’s Chief Representative to Kuwait and former Chairman of IBPC Kuwait, who played an instrumental role in facilitating the delegation’s participation. Also present were Mr. Suresh K. P., Hon. Secretary of IBPC Kuwait, and Mr. Sunit Arora, Hon. Joint Secretary of IBPC Kuwait.

The MoU lays the foundation for enhanced cooperation in trade promotion, investment facilitation, technology exchange, consultancy services, and joint business delegations. It also envisions exhibitions, buyer-seller meets, seminars, and workshops to strengthen economic and professional ties between India and Kuwait.

The IBPC Kuwait delegation of over 20 members actively participated in the summit, engaging with international business consortiums and leaders. Among the delegation were Mr. Saqer Y. Alrashoud, Chairman of the Cleaning Companies Association, and Mr. Abdul Rahman Alhouti, Attorney & Managing Partner of Dar Al Muhamma, who interacted widely with global participants and highlighted the strong interest of Kuwaiti partners in expanding bilateral cooperation.

Reflecting its belief that India’s future lies with its young business leaders, the IBPC Executive Committee also met with several next-generation visionaries, including Mr. Ameya Prabhu (Chairperson, Aarna Holdings), Ms. Adwaita Nair (CEO, Nykaa Fashion), Mr. Parth Jindal (Managing Director, JSW Cement & JSW Paints), and Mr. Joy Kotak (Co-Head, Kotak 811). All warmly accepted IBPC’s invitation to visit Kuwait for upcoming industry-focused conferences, reinforcing Kuwait’s position as a dynamic hub for trade and cultural exchange.

Commenting on the broader significance of the summit, Mr. S. K. Wadhawan said:
“Following the historic visit of India’s Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to Kuwait in December 2024, our nations have forged transformative agreements that continue to strengthen trade, commerce, cultural exchange, and people-to-people connections.”

Mr. Kaizar T. Shakir, Chairman of IBPC Kuwait, added: “This agreement reflects our shared vision to build stronger economic bridges between India and Kuwait. By fostering dialogue and business linkages, we aim to empower entrepreneurs and investors to explore high-growth sectors and create sustainable partnerships.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Abhyudaya Jindal, President of ICC, remarked:
“India and Kuwait share strong economic and cultural bonds. This MoU is a vital step toward deepening our partnership, connecting businesses, and unlocking opportunities in trade, investment, and innovation.”

The ICC’s centenary summit was supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, and the governments of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

IBPC Kuwait’s active participation strengthened by the facilitation of ICC’s Chief Representative in Kuwait and the leadership of its Executive Committee reaffirmed its mission to foster partnerships, dialogue, and progress. This historic moment continues to inspire pride among its members, the Indian diaspora, and Kuwaiti business partners alike.
