Speech of Ambassador HE Mrs Paramita Tripathi on the Viksit Bharat Run, 2 October 2026

Ladies and Gentlemen,

My dear fellow Indians

friends from the media

And dear children

A very good morning to all of you!

It is wonderful to see such a large and enthusiastic gathering here this morning for the Viksit Bharat Run 2.0. I thank each one of you for joining us and for bringing such energy and enthusiasm to this special occasion.

Today is particularly significant. The Viksit Bharat Run is being organised as part of Sewa Pakhwada, the fortnight of service, which culminates today with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhiji reminded us that cleanliness is not merely a matter of habit, but a reflection of our respect for ourselves, for others and for our surroundings. In that spirit, we have undertaken Swachhata Hi Sewa — service through cleanliness.

And today, we will put that spirit into action. As we conclude our run here at The Boulevard, we will undertake a “Leave No Trace” campaign. We will make sure that we do not litter and leave behind no litter from our activity today. In fact, I would urge all of you to join us in picking up every bit of waste and leaving this beautiful place cleaner than we found it.

This run is also part of the wider Fit India Movement and contributes to the Fit India Freedom Run, initiatives of the Government of India to encourage people to embrace physical activity and make fitness a part of everyday life, at least half an hour each day.

So, my message to all of you is very simple: If you can run, run. If you cannot run, walk. Get your steps in, enjoy the morning, and most importantly, have fun and enjoy the outdoors.

Let us celebrate Sewa, Swachhata and Fitness together — in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi and in the spirit of a healthy, active and responsible India.

Thank you, and all the very best for Viksit Bharat Run 2.0!

Jai Hind!
