A Memorable Reunion with H.E. Shri Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, Former Ambassador Indian Embassy Kuwait
_By P. Senthil Kumar (VP. Indian Frontliners Kuwait)
Some meetings are more than formal engagements; they bring back cherished memories, shared achievements and a deep sense of pride. He was the one who supported IFL, Kuwait and especially helped us during g COVID-19 in his capacity as the Ambassador in Kuwait who gave a fitting farewell to Indian Frontliners founder Writer N.C. Mohandoss (When he left Kuwait) for his tireless services to our society .
It was a great honour for our IBPC Kuwait delegation to meet H.E. Shri Sibi George, Secretary (West), at his office in Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. Despite his tight schedule and numerous responsibilities, he received them with the warmth, graciousness and genuine affection that we fondly remember from his tenure in Kuwait.
The interaction took them back to two landmark milestones - 60 years of India-Kuwait diplomatic relations and 75 years of India’s Independence. Among the most memorable initiatives was the iconic 3Ts Tricolor Bus Campaign, which brought the spirit of India alive on the streets of Kuwait. Having been involved in this initiative, we vividly recall his vision and encouragement to scale up the campaign from 10 buses to 100. What began as an ambitious idea evolved into a remarkable public diplomacy initiative, showcasing the vibrancy of India and strengthening the bonds of friendship between India and Kuwait.
Another deeply meaningful chapter was our collective response during the COVID-19 pandemic. We worked closely with COVID-19 operations on behalf of ICSG, we had the opportunity to witness his leadership, commitment and compassion at close quarters. His support was instrumental in extending much-needed assistance to the Indian community in Kuwait and facilitating the supply of substantial quantities of oxygen to India during one of the most challenging periods in our recent history. His leadership during those difficult days remains a lasting inspiration.
Even today, his clarity of thought, diplomatic insight, compassionate leadership and engagement with global issues continue to leave a lasting impression. His recent address in the Netherlands is another reflection of his commitment to advancing India's interests and strengthening its international relationships.
Meeting him once again was an opportunity to revisit a meaningful chapter of our lives, reflect on what we achieved together and draw inspiration from his continuing journey in public service.
Some individuals leave a lasting impression not merely through the positions they hold, but through the vision they inspire, the people they touch and the difference they make. H.E. Shri Sibi George is one such distinguished personality.
A heartfelt meeting filled with fond memories, mutual respect and renewed inspiration - a truly proud moment for our IBPC Kuwait delegation!
