GATE exam
 Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), 2016, is the all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science.
 
A valid GATE score is essential for obtaining financial assistance during Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture, and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science in Institutes supported by the MHRD or other Government agencies. But over the years it is being used for shortlisting candidates for selection as Executive/ Management Trainees in several public sector undertakings.
 
In all such selection processes, those interested in the positions in these PSUs have to apply and appear for the notified GATE paper and later apply to the concerned undertaking after they receive the registration number of GATE 2016 during the time slot announced/to be announced by them.
 
Several public sector undertakings, including Mazagon Docks, Bharath Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, GAIL, BHEL, ONGC, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, HPCL, National Thermal Power Corporation, Power Grid India, National Building Construction Corporation Limited, West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, National Fertilizers Limited, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, Oil India, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd, Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited, Institute of Plasma Research and Central Electronics Limited have notified the selection of Trainees through GATE 2016 Score. Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India has also notified certain positions to be filled through GATE 2016.
 
GATEThe last date for Submission of Online Application for GATE 2016, through Website was October 8, 2015 (Thursday). The Admit Card of the Examination will be available on the Online Application Interface for printing from December 17, 2015 (Thursday). The Examination will be held on Saturdays and Sundays only, between January 30 and February 07, 2016. The Results of GATE will be announced on March 19,   2016 (Saturday).
 
Most of the undertakings planning to recruit Trainees will make available their websites for online submission of applications for their positions on or after the date for receipt of the Admit Card of GATE 2016, as the registration number of the candidate in GATE would be needed by these undertaking to link their selection with the GATE score. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply for these posts. A brief outline of the selection process in these PSUs is given here for reference purpose.
 
1. Management Trainees at BPCL
BPCL will recruit young, energetic and ambitious Graduate Engineers in the field of Mechanical/Chemical/Instrumentation Engineering, for the post of ‘Management Trainee’.
Mechanical, Chemical & Instrumentation Engineers desirous of pursuing a career with BPCL are required to appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) -2016. Applicant should appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering-2016 (GATE-2016) in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Chemical Engineering (CH) or Instrumentation Engineering (IE).
 
Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian National and should hold a full time, B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg) through AICTE/UGC approved Indian Universities / Institutes and should have passed the degree in first attempt. Integrated Courses or courses with duration of 5 years or more would not be eligible for the position. Those in the final year of their engineering studies may also apply. However, they must fulfil the eligibility criteria in all respects of educational qualification, percentage of marks, age, etc. and if short-listed for interview, should submit documentary proof of having passed the degree examination with the required percentage of marks.
 
Branch/ Specialisation Nomenclature of Qualifying Degree are as follows.
Mechanical: B.E / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engg)-Mechanical Engineering
Chemical: B.E / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engg)-Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology
Instrumentation: B.E / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engg)-Instrumentation Engineering / Instrumentation and Control Engineering / Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering / Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
Those with specialisations Automation / Production / Mechatronics / Manufacturing / Industrial / Electronics Engg etc are not eligible to apply against any of the aforementioned disciplines. These exclusions are only indicative and not exhaustive.
 
Percentage of Marks: Applicants belonging to General and OBC (NCL) categories should have secured minimum 60% marks in the qualifying degree examination. The applicable minimum percentage of marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates is 50%. Those in the final year of engineering belonging to General and OBC (NCL) categories should have secured minimum 60% marks (in aggregate up to last semester), relaxable to 50% for SC/ST/ PWD candidates. Percentage of marks would be the aggregate of all semesters irrespective of the norms / system being followed in the institute/university. Wherever CGPA/OGPA/DGPA or Letter Grade is awarded, its equivalent percentage of marks must be indicated in the application form as per norms adopted by University / Institute. Rounding off of percentage would not be allowed.
 
Age as on 1.6.2016: General Candidates: Maximum 25 years; OBC (Non Creamy layer): Maximum 28 years; SC/ST: Maximum 30 years; PWDs with degree of disability 40% or above: Age relaxation of up to 10 years. Those domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between 1.1.1980 and 31.12.1989: Age relaxation of up to 5 years; Ex-servicemen & Commissioned Officers (including ECOs & SSCOs, subject to rendering minimum 5 years’ military service and fulfilment of other conditions prescribed by Government of India): Age relaxation of up to 5 years
 
Application: Those interested have to apply at www.bpclcareers.com for openings at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited after downloading the GATE-2016 admit card and receipt of GATE registration number. The relevant link would be made available from 17th December 2015 to 30th January 2016, on BPCL’s career website https://www.bpclcareers.in. Upon completion, applicant should submit the application by clicking the ‘SUBMIT’ button at the bottom of the page. If the same is accepted, the system will generate a unique application ID along with the completed application form. Candidate should take a print out of completed application, affix his/her recent passport size photograph, and sign in the space provided. The same will have to be submitted in case the candidate is shortlisted for further selection process. The passport size photograph affixed by the candidate should be the same as that on the GATE-2015 application form & admit card. The last date for submitting the ONLINE application for BPCL is 30th January 2016. BPCL will consider only GATE-2016 marks.
 
Candidates must have an active e-mail id, which must remain valid for at least the next one year. All future communication with the candidates will take place through e-mail only. Candidates should have relevant documents like percentage of marks obtained in the degree examination, degree certificate, date of birth, caste/disability certificate (if applicable), e-mail id etc. readily available with them before they commence the ONLINE application process. This information would be required at the time of filling-in the ONLINE application. Candidates presently employed in Central/ State Government, Autonomous bodies and PSUs must submit 'No Objection Certificate' of their employer at the time of GD / PI failing which they will not be allowed to appear for the selection process. Candidates belonging to OBC category but belonging to creamy layer would not be entitled to the benefit of reservation and should apply as General Category candidates.

2. Executive Trainee in GAIL
Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), has invited applications from committed, vibrant and passionate young Graduate Engineers, for recruitment as Executive Trainees in the disciplines of Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Business Information System (BIS) and Telecom/ Telemetry during the year 2016.
GAIL will be utilizing the scores of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering-2016 (GATE-2016-Scores) for the selection for filling up vacancies in Grade E-2, in Chemical (14 vacancies), Mechanical (13), Electrical (13), Instrumentation (6), Business Information System (11) and Telecom/ Telemetry (10). Of this, 38 vacancies are in UR category (Unreserved), 5 in SC, 6 in ST and 18 in OBC (NCL). One vacancy each in Telecom/ Telemetry, Mechanical, Electrical is reserved for PWD. Only full time Regular courses will be considered. This shall include School examinations (Class X and XII), all Diploma(s), Graduation and Post-Graduation as specified under the qualifications. All qualifications must be from UGC recognized Indian University / UGC recognized Indian Deemed University or AICTE approved courses from Autonomous Indian Institutions / concerned statutory council (wherever applicable).
 
Those currently in final year (2015-16) of their Engineering Degree/MCA Degree (for ET (BIS) only) course may also apply provided candidates belonging to General and OBC (NCL) category have secured minimum 65% marks in aggregate and candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD category have secured minimum 60% marks in aggregate up to the last semester/ year examination at the time of applying. Selection of such candidates will be further subject to obtaining minimum prescribed marks in their Engineering Degree/ MCA Degree (for ET (BIS) only) and submission of Engineering Degree / MCA Degree (for ET (BIS) only) certificate (at least provisional certificate) and mark sheets of all semesters / years towards documentary proof of having passed the qualifying Engineering Degree / MCA Degree (for ET (BIS) only) examination in relevant discipline/ branch, by 31st August, 2016.
 
Wherever CGPA/OGPA or letter grade in a Degree is awarded, equivalent percentage of marks should be indicated in the application as per norms adopted by University/Institutes. Engineering Degree can be B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. Engg. Candidates having 5 years B.E / B. Tech. + M.E / M. Tech. integrated dual degree in engineering in relevant discipline shall also be considered.
 
Age Limit & Relaxation: The upper age Limit is 28 years as on 29.01.2016. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates. It is relaxable by 10 years for PWD-General, 13 years for PWD-OBC (NCL) and 15 years for PWD-SC/ST candidates. The above relaxation in upper age limit is applicable only in respect of posts which are reserved for SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL) candidates. SC/ST/ OBC (NCL) candidates applying against unreserved (UR) posts will not get relaxation in upper age limit.
 
Relaxation in upper age limit shall be applicable for PWDs irrespective of the fact whether the post is reserved or not, provided the post is identified suitable for PWDs. The upper age limit is also relaxable by 5 years for candidates domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir between 1.1.1980 and 31.12.1989. In case of Ex-servicemen who have put in not less than six months continuous service in the Armed Forces of the Union, they shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from their actual age, and if the resultant age does not exceed by more than 3 years the maximum age limit prescribed for the posts/ services for which a candidate seeks appointment, he/she be deemed to satisfy the conditions regarding the age limit. Maximum upper age of the applicant shall not exceed 56 years including all possible age relaxations.
 
Application: Eligible candidates have to appear in GATE-2016 as per instructions and timelines notified by GATE-2016 Organizing Institute, in the relevant GATE Examination.
The relevant GATE Examination Papers to be taken for Executive Trainee in different disciplines, with their codes are the following.
 
Chemical -Chemical Engineering (Code-CH); Mechanical-Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical- Electrical Engineering (EE), Instrumentation- Instrumentation Engineering (IN), Business Information System -Computer Science and Information Technology (CS), Telecom/ Telemetry- Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC).
 
Based on the GATE-2016 score and requirement, candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion and/ or Personal Interview for the position of Executive Trainees. Only GATE-2016 score is valid for this recruitment.
 
On receipt/ downloading of GATE- 2016 Admit card with registration number, candidates will have to separately apply online in GAIL indicating their GATE-2016 Registration Number at https://www.gailonline.com. The relevant link will be made available from 1100 hrs on 22.12.2015 to 1800 hrs on 29.01.2016. Applicant should ensure that the GATE-2016 Registration number which is mentioned on GATE-2016 admit card, is entered correctly in the online application. Name should be filled up as appearing in the GATE-2016 Admit card. No request with respect to making changes in any data/ particulars entered by the candidate in the online application will be entertained, once the application is submitted successfully.
 
A Candidate can apply for one post/ discipline only. After successful submission of online application by the candidate, a unique registration number shall be generated by the system and a message shall be displayed in the system that the online application has been submitted successfully and an auto generated email mentioning the unique registration number shall reach the candidate informing that his/ her application has been submitted successfully.
 
After applying online, candidate is required to take a printout of the Application Form generated by the system with unique registration number, space for affixing photograph and signature and other details. The candidate has to affix his/ her recent passport size colour photograph and put his/ her signature at the space provided and keep it with him/ her safely. Candidates called for Group Discussion and/ or Interview will be required to produce the same documents at the time of Group Discussion and/ or Interview.
 
Candidates should not send this printout to any office of GAIL (India) Limited.
There is no separate fee for applying for the posts of Executive.
Those employed in Central/ State Government Department, Central/State PSUs or Semi Government Organization must produce No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of Group Discussions and/ or Interview from their present employer, if they qualify for Group Discussions and/ or Interview. In case, the candidate fails to produce the NOC from his/ her present employer at the time of Group Discussions and/ or Interview, his/ her candidature will not be considered.

3. Engineers/ Officers at IOCL
Indian Oil Corporation Limited has invited applications for Recruitment of Engineers/ Officers in various disciplines, through GATE-2016.

Applicants having BE/B.Tech or equivalent qualifications in Chemical Engineering/ Polymer Science & Engineering/ Petro-Chemical Engineering/ Plastic Technology may be considered for vacancies in Chemical Engineering.
 
However, candidates with BE/B.Tech equivalent qualifications in Chemical Engineering/Polymer Science/Engineering/Technology, desirous to be considered exclusively against the vacancies for Polymer Science and Engineering must select Polymer Science and Engineering section (code F) as one section in the Engineering Sciences (XE) paper of GATE. They should follow GATE-2016 examination structure:
 
Section A- Engineering Mathematics; General Aptitude; Polymer Science and Engineering (Paper Code F) (Mandatory) and any other section from XE paper section other than the papers mentioned above. Applicants will be required to exercise their option for either of the disciplines while registering their applications on-line in IndianOil.
 
For Engineering Disciplines, applicant should have passed qualifying degree examinations and awarded Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology through a full time regular courses only in the above mentioned disciplines from recognized Indian Universities / Institutes. Those belonging to General and OBC (non- creamy layer) categories, should have secured minimum 65% marks in qualifying degree examinations. Qualifying marks is relaxed to 55% for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
 
Those currently in final year of their engineering studies may also apply. However, if selected, they must be in a position to submit their final mark sheet by 31st August, 2016.
 
Those pursuing/ completed M.Tech in any discipline, other than those mentioned above, for being eligible, must have completed (or are completing) BE/ B.Tech in one of the above mentioned disciplines and should appear in GATE-2016 examination in the discipline of their BE/ B.Tech.
 
Integrated ME/ M.Tech candidates will be eligible, if they have already completed (or are completing) the course requirement for award of BE/ B.Tech in one of the core disciplines advertised and have completed (or are completing ME/ M.Tech by August, 2016). At the end of the programme, if selected in IndianOil, such candidates must have both BE/B.Tech and ME/M.Tech degree.
 
Candidates completed /pursuing their graduation (BE/B.Tech) in combined/ integrated disciplines/ inter-disciplinary subjects like Mechatronics/ Robotics etc will not be eligible. Applicant should not be over 26 years of age as on 30th June, 2016 for general category. Relaxation in upper age limit will be 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years for PWD candidates. Age relaxation by 5 years will be applicable for candidates domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between 1.1.1980 and 31.12.1989. Age relaxation by 5 years will be given for Ex-servicemen & Commissioned Officers (including ECOs/SSCOs) subject to rendering minimum 5 years’ military service and fulfilment of other conditions prescribed by Government of India.
 
Reservation of posts for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ PWD (degree of disability 40% or above) will be maintained as per Government of India directives.
 
Candidates desirous of seeking employment with IndianOil need to be medically fit as per IndianOil’s pre-employment medical standard.
 
Graduate Engineers from the relevant disciplines, desirous of taking up a career with IndianOil are required to appear in GATE-2016 in the same disciplines. It will be Engineering Sciences (XE) for Petroleum Engineering.  
 
On the basis of GATE-2016 score, the candidates will be short listed for further selection process comprising of Group Discussion (GD) & Group Task (GT) and Personal Interview (PI) for assessment of different facets of knowledge, skill, attitude and aptitude.
 
Candidates have to essentially qualify in the GATE-2016 examination. In addition, candidates will have to qualify through GD/GT and also PI successfully.
 
Final merit will be prepared based on GATE-2016 score and scores obtained by the candidates in GD/GT and PI. Merit will be prepared discipline-wise. GATE-2016 admit card containing GATE-2016 registration number will be available for printing from GOAPs website from 17th December, 2015. After downloading the GATE-2016 admit card and receipt of GATE-2016 registration number, the candidates may apply to IndianOil ONLINE. The relevant link will be made available from 17th December, 2015 to 7th February, 2016, at https://www.iocl.com.
 
Candidates should click on the ONLINE application link, read the instructions carefully and fill-in the ONLINE application form giving accurate information including the GATE- 2016 registration number. Upon completion, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the page. If the same is accepted, the system will generate a unique application ID along with the completed application form.
 
Candidate should take a print out of completed application, affix his/her recent passport size photograph, put his/ her signature at the space provided and keep with him/ her safely for future reference. Candidates must not send this printout to any office of IndianOil. The passport size photograph affixed by the candidate should be the same submitted along with GATE-2016 application form and admit card. If the candidate is called for GD/GT and interview, his/ her identity would be verified with GATE-2016 admit card and GATE-2016 official score card. The last date for receiving the ONLINE application by IndianOil is 7th February, 2016. Candidates need not to pay any application fee to IndianOil separately.
 
Those who are going to appear in final qualifying degree examination in 2016 may also apply. If such candidates are short-listed for interview, they will have to submit documentary proof of having completed all requirements of completing the qualifying degree (BE/ B.Tech etc) examination with minimum prescribed percentage of marks by 31st August 2016.

4. Executive Trainee at Mazagon Dock
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, a Government of India Undertaking, has notified the recruitment of Executive Trainees (Technical) through GATE 2016. MDL proposes to recruit Executive Trainee (Technical-E-1 cadre) in Mechanical (16 vacancies) and Electrical (19 vacancies) branches. No. of vacancies are indicative and may increase/ decrease depending on the organizational requirement. Shortlisting of applicants for Personal Interview will be on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2016 score.  
 
Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian National and should have a full-time degree in Engineering in Mechanical/ Electrical with minimum first class or 60% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized University/ Deemed University or Institute recognized by AICTE. Mechanical includes Mechanical/ Mechanical & Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical & Production Engineering/ Production Engineering/ Production Engineering & Management/ Production & Industrial Engineering. Electrical includes Electrical / Electrical & Electronics / Electrical & Instrumentation. Only these disciplines will be considered for the recruitment process. Courses/ Disciplines with equivalence to the above will not be considered.
 
Final year students are also eligible to apply for the post. However, their final selection will be subject to clearing the qualifying requirement as above with minimum first class or 60% marks or equivalent, by 31st August 2016.
 
Age: Applicant should not be over 26 years of age as on 1.2.2016. Age relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC & PWD shall be as per the Government Guidelines. In case of Ex-servicemen, the upper age limit will be relaxed to the extent of number of years served in Military Service. However, the resultant age after deducting the period of service from the actual age should not exceed the prescribed age limit by more than 3 years.
 
Selection Process: Those interested in the positions will have to appear for GATE papers in Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Electrical Engineering (EE), as applicable. On the basis of GATE 2016 score, the candidates will be shortlisted for Personal Interview. Candidates obtaining a valid score shall only be eligible for the next stage of selection. The score is valid only if the candidate obtains more than or equal to the qualifying marks as fixed for the respective discipline in GATE 2016. Selection process of MDL will commence only after the declaration of GATE 2016 results.
 
Application: Application will have to be submitted to MDL.
MDL Online Application commences at the MDL website https://mazagondock.gov.in/ on 18.12.2015 and the last date of MDL Online Application is 01.02.2016. GATE 2016 registration number provided on the Admit Card issued by GATE Authorities has to be used for applying to MDL. Candidates need to ensure that they fill up the GATE Registration Number correctly and apply for the relevant discipline in MDL Online Application Form. Requests for correction in GATE registration number or discipline will not be entertained.
 
After submission of the application, the system will generate a unique registration no. After validation of applicant’s email-id, applicant should take a printout of the Application Form with the help of this registration number. Applicant should keep a record of the same for future reference. Candidates are advised to take a print out of the application form quoting their registration number, on or before the last date of application. Option for validation of email or download/ printing of application form will not be available after the last date of application.
 
Processing fee of Rs.300/- shall be applicable for candidates belonging to General/ OBC categories. Applicants belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD (Persons with Disability) are exempted from payment of processing fee. Candidates are required to download the Challan Form available with the Notification at the ‘Careers-Executive’ link at https://mazagondock.gov.in/. Applicant should fill up all the three parts (Bank’s Copy, MDL’s Copy & Candidate’s Copy) of the Challan and Deposit cash of Rs.340/- (including Bank Charges of Rs.40/-) at the nearest SBI Branch. Bank shall be accepting processing fees up to 1st February 2016 up to the normal banking operational hours. Bank shall retain its copy (Bank’s Copy) and return two parts (MDL’s Copy and Candidate’s Copy) of the Challan to the candidate after filling of necessary information and Bank’s seal acknowledging receipt of the Processing Fees and Bank charges.

On the basis of valid GATE 2016 marks, qualified candidates will be called for further selection process in a predetermined ratio in order of the category-wise discipline- wise merit list. In addition to the above, any other selection tools/tests may be administered, at the sole discretion of the management.
 
Candidates will have to qualify through each stage of selection process successfully before being adjudged as suitable for selection. Applications have to be filled online form with all the relevant details. After submitting, applicant will get a system generated 12 Digit Application No. This Application No. will be required for all future references throughout the selection process. Applicant should take printout of the Online Application Form, affix his/her recent passport size photograph, put his/her signature at the space provided and keep it with him/ her safely for future reference. Applicant has to choose the option for Payment of Application & Processing Fee. For Payment through challan at State Bank of India (SBI), applicant is required to take a print of the ‘2 part challan’ (one being the Candidate copy and the other, Bank copy) along with filled application form. Non-Refundable Amount of Rs.263/ - (Application fee inclusive of service tax and bank charges of Rs. 35/-) for General & OBC-NC candidates is to be deposited through pre-printed challan in HPCL Powerjyoti A/C Number 32315049001 at any branch of SBI across country after two working days from date of online application. Candidates are required to ensure that bank affixes ‘payment received’ stamp and Journal no. on two parts of challan. Candidates are required to collect the ‘Candidate’s copy’ of 2 part challan from bank and preserve the same for future reference.
 
Once the payment is received by HPCL against the application no., payment status will change to ‘Payment Received’. Applicant must ensure that payment status is changed to ‘payment received’ within 3-4 working days from the date of payment of application fee & processing fee, as the applications with other payment status will not be accepted. In case payment status is not updated within 3-4 working days, applicant may send the scanned copy of paid challan to hpclgate@mail.hpcl.co.in
 
Candidates can pay applicable application & processing fee online by using Debit/ Credit card also. The payment status will automatically change to ‘Payment Received’, immediately on successful receipt of fees. All the candidates must ensure that the payment status is ‘Payment Received’. Once the payment is done, candidates are required to take print of acknowledgment of payment and preserve the same for future reference.
 
Candidates can view their status of payment of application fee by logging in HPCL website with application no. & e-mail ID (as mentioned in online application). Candidates presently employed in Government Departments/ PSUs/ Autonomous Bodies will be required to submit NOC from competent authority of their current employer at the time of interview. In case of failure to produce the NOC from the current employer at the time of Interview, the candidate will not be permitted to appear for the Interview.

Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), has decided to use GATE-2016 scores merit for recruitment of Assistant Engineer (On Training) (Electrical), Assistant Engineer (On Training) (Civil) and Assistant Manager (IT).
 
For the Post of Assistant Engineer (OT), applicant should hold full time, regular, BE/BTech/BSc Engineering or equivalent Degree in respective disciplines, recognised by AICTE or AMIE from Institution of Engineers (India) Kolkata with a minimum of 60% marks in discipline of Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering or Instrumentation and Control Engineering for Assistant Engineer (OT) (Electrical) and in Civil Engineering for Assistant Engineer (OT) (Civil).
 
For Assistant Manager (IT),  applicant should hold full time, regular, BE/BTech/BSc Engineering in Computer Science/IT or equivalent Degree in respective disciplines recognised by AICTE or Full time regular MCA or full time regular Master’s degree in IT with at least 60% marks.
 
The criteria for age limit /reservation will be as per latest instructions of Punjab Government. Existing age limit is 20 to 37 years as on 1st January of the respective calendar year during which advertisement for recruitment is given.
 
Knowledge of Punjabi is needed. The details are available in the Notification. Those desirous of the positions should appear for GATE 2016 in the subject Notified. The subjects for GATE should be as follows depending on the qualification.

17. Cabinet Secretariat to recruit through GATE
Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, has notified few posts that are likely to be filled through GATE marks. The positions are (i) Senior Research Officer (Crypto) (ii) Senior Research Officer (S&T) and (iii) Senior Field Officer (Tele). All are Group A gazetted posts.
 
For Senior Research Officer (Crypto), applicant should hold a Master’s Degree in Computer Applications or a Degree in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science or Electronics and Communication or Electronics. Aptitude in Cryptography and Knowledge of Computer Applications are desirable. There are 4 slots for Computer Science and 2 for electronics or Electronics and Communication.
 
For the post of Senior Research Officer (S&T), applicant should be a Master’s Degree holder in Physics or Chemistry. Doctorate Degree in Science from a recognized University and Possessing knowledge of French or German or Chinese Language are desirable. There are 3 vacancies each for Physics and Chemistry.
For Senior Field Officer (Tele), applicant should have a Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University in Telecommunication or Electronics or equivalent or passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India) or Associate Membership Examination of Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.
