Habits that Reduce Risk of Heart Problems

Smoking

Active smoking or passive smoking damage the arteries and this in turn damages your heart, this is long term damage and can cause death. So the best bet is to quit smoking altogether for better health.

Get Up and Get Going

Stop being a couch potato, exercising and physical activity are important to combat heart diseases. Experts suggest 30 minutes of physical activity everyday.

Weight Issues

The more love handles you have, the more strain you put on your heart and you are also more inclined to get lifestyle diseases like diabetes. So for an overweight person, even losing 5-10 per cent of their overall body weight will help them regulate their blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Eat Healthy

Eat foods low in saturated fats, trans fats, and cholesterol.  Add more fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, good proteins and herbs in your diet. And stay away from fried food, junk, red meat, aerated drinks and carbohydrate rich foods.
