Timely detection of cancer is vital in preventing its progress as well as death.
Bringing hope in this regard,  a study has found that the seed of Jackfruit can reveal cells before they turn cancerous in future. Jackfruit and its leaves are also effective in the treatment of diabetes.
The amazing benefits of Jackfruit were revealed at the conference of health experts organised by Jackfruit promotion council at Gandhi Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram.
In the study conducted by P Ramani at the research deparment of Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, it was found that Jackfruit seeds can be used for the early detection of cancer cells.
The method for ascertaining the cells which may turn cancerous in future is simple.
A paste that is manufactured from Lectine, a protein extracted from jackfruit seed, should be  applied on cells doubted to be cancerous.
When it is washed away after half an hour, the cells which may become cancerous in future will show discoloration.
The paper says that chance of a person getting cancer can be predicted 10 years earlier through this method.
The conference discussed the paper which has been published in several medical journals.
Both Allopathy and Ayurvedic doctors agreed that there is nothing better than Jackfruit to reverse diabetes.
The results of the research conducted in this regard in Sri Lanka was pointed out by Dr Padmakumar of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

The study was conducted on patients who were taking insulin for 5 years to as long as 20 years.
Significant decrease in blood sugar levels were observed in patients who ate Jackfruit regularly for three months.
Dr Ajayakumar said that the research is going on.
State horticulture mission director Dr K Prathapan recounted his personal expereince of defeating diabetes by eating jackfruit.
When diabetes was confirmed, he avoided medicines and ate jackfruit once a day.
