The popular Bollywood restaurant was founded by Shri Selvaraj in 1999 in Maliya with the aim of providing quality food to customers, Bollywood quickly established a name for itself amongst the Indian community. In the year 2000, Shri Selvaraj then brought to Kuwait his son-in-law who was already well experienced in running a restaurant in India. Together, they have ensured the success of Bollywood through their hard work and dedication. In the year 2007 they moved Bollywood to its current location. Here they have expanded the space and added many facilities like separate hall for families, varieties of dishes to satisfy the customers etc. Bollywood has become very famous among the Indians because of the quality of the food and the hospitality shown by the staff.
Shri Selvaraj hails from Samayapuram, Trichirapalli Tamilnadu. He was born in a middle class family which was engaged in a small business in his home town. He came to Kuwait in the year 1987. He remembers proudly of the periods he has worked as a house driver, mandoob and even ran a vegetable shop. It is from such humble beginnings that he has risen to his current status. His determination to succeed is evident from the fact that for seven years during 1992-1999 he stayed in Kuwait concentrating on the business without visiting India even once.
Shri Srinivasan comes from Sokkanathapuram, Perambalur district in Tamil Nadu. Though he very much wanted to study, his family’s poor economic circumstances forced him to join a hotel when he was just a boy. During the next fifteen years, through his hard work he slowly gained enough experience and confidence and was promoted to managing the hotel on his own.
It is this background that helped him and Bollywood restaurant when he moved to Kuwait. In an effort to help the people who contributed to his success in the hotel in India, Shri Srinivasan brought many of them to Kuwait and they are all still with him here. Together they strive to maintain the same Indian culture and hospitality. This is the reason why when you visit Bollywood it makes you feel that you are back home in India.
Today Bollywood Restaurant is the best place in Kuwait City to get your meals during your busy workday. Treat yourself and your business colleagues, visitors from back home to the many different varieties of dishes such as South Indian, North Indian, Arabic, Chinese and Sweets and snacks both non-vegetarian as well as vegetarian. Centrally situated in Mirgab with plenty of parking space nearby, Bollywood is convenient for business meetings and parties.

Shri Selvaraj is very particular when it comes to customer service and believes strongly that the health of customer comes first. From the days of starting the business in 1999, he has maintained a strict ‘No Smoking’ policy in the restaurant to ensure that the air is clean and healthy.
Shri Selvaraj attributes his success to the Grace of God, a sincere approach to the business and ability to provide quality food to the customers. At the same time, he and Shri Srinivasan do not forget the contribution of the restaurant staff and take care of them very well by providing good salary and accommodation. It may surprise most people to know that when due to the demolition of their building they were forced to move out of Maliya and search for a new place, they did not dismiss the workers. They continued to provide salary and accommodation to the staff for the whole year that it took them to relocate the restaurant.
Shri Selvaraj’s wife is Saraswathi and they have two daughters Hemalatha and Nithya. Shri Srinivasan is married to his first daughter Hemalatha and they are blessed with three daughters Aruna, Abarna, Aiswarya and one son Sanathkumar. The children are all studying in India.
Shri Selvaraj and Shri Srinivasan are well known as kind hearted persons who help a lot of charities. They have helped many persons who came to Kuwait and were struggling to earn their livelihood by providing them food and accommodation. Also they have been regularly extending support to most of the Indian Associations in Kuwait by providing financial support and sponsorship for their functions. Their social orientation extends to helping people in India as well, particularly the handicapped. They have organized distribution of sewing machines to such people in order to provide them with a livelihood.
One of the reasons for their success is that both Shri Selvaraj and Shri Srinivasan have known what it is to struggle in life. This has created a strong bond between them enabling them to work together effectively. Even though they are now related, they regard each other as friends - first and foremost. Together they dream of opening a star hotel and catering unit in India and provide a lot of young people employment and prospects. We sincerely wish them all success in this effort and may God help them fulfil their ambitions.
