Flood crisis report submitted to Anti-Corruption Authority

The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority, also known as Nazaha, on Monday confirmed receiving the governmental report regarding the flood crisis.

The report includes inputs from the governmental Technical Committee which presented details on the affected roads and the most recent road maintenance works.

In a press statement, Secretary-General for Corruption Investigation and official spokesperson of Nazaha Dr Mohammed Bozabr disclosed that the authority also received the parliamentary report on the loose gravel issue.

He said both reports will be reviewed thoroughly to ensure all attached documents are accurate, lawful and void of violations. He added Nazaha will also request for the reports of the Ministry of Public Works and the parliamentary Public Utilities Committee to include them in the evaluation process, along with the opinions of experts from every concerned authority and institution.

Bozabr lauded the Cabinet’s trust in Nazaha as it referred all public cases and issues to the authority, stressing the latter will spare no effort in determining who should be held responsible and then refer them to the Public Prosecution.

Furthermore, the Handicapped Affairs Committee in the Parliament has finalized its priorities for this legislative term considering there are 21 proposed amendments to the Handicapped Law. The committee recently met some human rights representatives and United Nations (UN) officials who are currently preparing a report on human rights efforts in Kuwait and the role it plays in protecting the welfare of people with disabilities, along with the legislative efforts in this regard.

During the meeting, the committee responded adequately to all the queries of the human rights representatives and UN officials who were also briefed on measures taken in the past and plans in this field.

The committee confirmed it is keen on cooperating and supporting civil societies and concerned international organizations.
