Completion rate in the Al-Zour refinery project reached 94%, expected to be completed in December 2020



The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development Dr. Khaled Mahdi announced that the completion rate in the Al-Zour refinery project reached 94%, explaining that the percentage of spending during the year 2019-2020 reached 52.47%, expected to be completed in December 2020.This came in a press statement he made on the sidelines of the visit organized by the Planning and Follow-up Sector to the Al-Zour Refinery Project site yesterday morning in the presence of a team monitoring the implementation of the development plan projects.Mahdi said that the project is one of the most important pillars of the development plan in the field of crude oil refining industry, noting that the largest Al Zour refinery in Kuwait was created in line with international environmental specifications and standards to contribute effectively to improving air quality, by reducing the proportion of polluted gases emitted from Power plants by 75% by supplying them with environmental fuel with a low sulfur content, stressing that they will provide a steady supply of power stations with about 225 thousand barrels per day of environmental fuel oil, as well as producing about 340 thousand barrels per day of high-quality and conforming to petroleum products

In turn, the director of Al-Zour refinery projects, Ibrahim Al-Awadi, said that the refinery is one of the strategic initiatives of the Kuwait National Petroleum Corporation to increase the refining capacity of oil, noting that it is one of the huge projects implemented by the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company and is considered the largest project in the world to be built as one stage. Al-Awadi continued.
