Al Rai daily cites a reliable source from the Ministry of Awqaf that the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has asked its interior counterpart to renew the validity of residency permits for imams, preachers, and muezzins to five years instead of one year, according to the ministry of Awqaf.

During the Corona pandemic, the previously five-year validity of the above mentioned residency permit was first reduced to two years and then to one year. To address this issue and ease administrative procedures, the concerned authorities in the Ministry of Awqaf have coordinated with their counterparts in the Ministry of Interior.
