Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that all vehicles with unpaid traffic violations are prohibited from leaving the country’s border crossings.

In a statement, the ministry clarified that the restriction applies only to vehicles that are subject to judicial or precautionary impoundment orders, as well as vehicles with expired insurance policies, in accordance with existing legal procedures. It stressed that the measure does not apply to vehicles solely because they have outstanding traffic violations.

The ministry further explained that Kuwaiti citizens are not required to pay outstanding traffic fines before leaving the country through land border crossings.

However, expatriate residents must settle any unpaid traffic fines before departing Kuwait, in line with the country’s applicable laws and regulations.

The ministry urged the public to verify information before sharing it and to rely only on official sources for updates on traffic regulations and border procedures.
