Proud Prodigies of India International School

India International School was blessed with another accolade when Aksa Anna Alexander and Aqueela Ahmed of Class IX won the  contest ‘Proud to be an Indian’ initiated by Asianet News on Jan 11, 2015. Loaded with appreciation and blessings by the school Director, Principal, Vice principals and teachers, the team accompanied by Vice Principal Mrs. Sophy was flown to Delhi to witness the Republic Day Parade.  The direct experience of watching the much awaited and prestigious republic day proceedings, which was further glorified by the presence of the US President Mr. Barrack Obama, inculcated in them a new awakened spirit of patriotism. The fire was further ignited when they were watching the closing ceremony of the Republic Day – ‘Beating the Retreat’.

alt It was the most cherished moment of their life when they experienced the warmth of Indian secularism as they listened to the mantras from the Holy Books of all religions reverberating the surroundings while paying homage to the Father of our Nation.

alt The trip also included visit to some of the famous historical monuments of Delhi and Jaipur which instilled in them the firsthand knowledge of Indian heritage and culture.  They were overwhelmed with joy to see the Prime Minister, and the President along with the other ministers at a short distance.  They were further thrilled during the interaction with the Human Resource Minister Mrs. Smriti Irani.

Tears came rolling down their cheeks when they met Mr. Mehta, the person behind the Mahveer Vikland Sahayata Samiti, Jaipur, whose prime aim is to restore the glory of the handicapped people by providing artificial limbs (Jaipur legs) free of cost to all. The children were inspired when they saw the less privileged people ready to compete with them in the running race and dancing.

It was indeed an eye opener where they saw India in its depth and understood why it is often termed as ‘Incredible India’. In unison they proclaimed ‘We are Proud to be Indians’.  It was a trip that taught them the real meaning of the slogan ‘Unity in Diversity’, as they made friendship with the students hailing from other GCC countries who belong to the various states of India. On return, the ‘responsible citizens of India’ were outbursting with their treasured moments to share it with their school mates. The school welcomed them with pride and congratulated them on their great achievement. All the students were enthralled while listening to their passionate speech during the school assembly.  “Jai Hind”.
