CBSE  CLUSTER ATHLETIC MEET KUWAIT REGION  OPENS

The 17th Cluster Athletic meet of CBSE affiliated schools in Kuwait kicked off at the Kuwait Amateur Athletic Federation Stadium, Khaifan amidst the thunderous applause of the participating teams from 15 schools across the country. The meet which is being held from November 29th to December 2nd 2015 will witness the participation of 540 athletes  in 66 events vying with each other for the coveted honours. The inaugural ceremony of this sports extravaganza was held on the 29th of November  and His Excellency Major General Mohammad Ashab Uddin, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait graced this auspicious occasion. The presence of the the Principals of various CBSE schools in Kuwait and other eminent dignitaries made the ceremony a memorable one.

The ceremony commenced with the Islamic prayer invoking the blessings of the Almighty. The mellifluous prayer song by The Indian Community School Musical band “Swaranjali” added divine charm to the occasion. Rendering of the National Anthems of Kuwait and India uplifted the spirit of the participants. It was followed by the hoisting of the flags of Kuwait, India and the CBSE flag under which all unite as one team.

The impressive and well coordinated march past by the participants of 15 CBSE schools taking part in the meet followed. The teams paraded in with the pride and honour of sportsmen ready to give their best for victory.

The lighting of the Torch, signified the ardent aspiration of a sportsman to shine and rise up to the highest level of extraordinary performance. Bijoy Sam Varghese, student of ICSK, the holder of two meet records in the under 16 category of CBSE Cluster, administered the oath to all the participants. He reminded them to adhere to the rules and regulations of being true and honest towards sports.

Dr. V Binumon, the Convener of CBSE Kuwait Cluster and the Principal of ICSK, bade the Chief Guest and the gathering a cordial welcome and encouraged the students to go that extra step, run the extra mile and strive to their last ounce of courage to achieve their target.

The Chief Guest, His Excellency Mohammad Ashab Uddin, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait, addressed the athletes emphasizing on the importance of Sports and Games and asked them to compete upholding the true spirit of athletic values – excellence, friendship and respect. He then declared the cluster meet open and released the balloon which symbolizes determination and the ability to overcome all the obstacles. The programme concluded with the ebullient display by the ICSK School Band, which electrified the audience and took down the lane of chills and thrills.
