A DAY OF CELEBRATION OF ACHIEVERS AT LOA

Variety is the spice of life. Life without feasts and celebrations is charmless and lifeless. So is true in case of school life. The Annual Day is one such occasion that adds colour and charm to school life. The Annual Day celebration was bound to be a befitting occasion for the spontaneous outburst of this high spiritedness in a wide range of creativity.

On 1st October, 2017, Indian Learners Own Academy wore the festive look, illuminating with shining faces as the students celebrated their Annual Day function with a lot of enthusiasm, zeal, and elation. The entire school participated wholeheartedly towards the success of this grand event. The triumph was made possible by the relentless efforts of our Principal Mrs. Asha Sharma.

ILOA hosted its 7th Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony on this day. The Annual Day is a perfect venue for children to instil positive values, recognize their abilities and talents, through an array of entertaining programmes and also to be acknowledged for their diligent effort in academics.

The Chief Guest Dr. Shobha Vaddadhi, Principal of Global English Indian School, a very versatile and seasoned administrator, presided over the event. Other esteemed guests of honour Mr. Kapil Kumra and Mrs. Alka Kumra embellished the event with their presence. Also present on the occasion were the Chairman Mr. D.K. Sharma and the S          chool Principal Mrs. Asha Sharma.

The function began at 5:30 pm in the school premises. The programme commenced with a recital from the Holy Quran followed by the national anthems of Kuwait and India. A melodious welcome song ‘Mann Ki Veena Se Gunjith’ – ‘Swagatam’ was sung by the choir group of LOA followed by the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony by the esteemed dignitaries. This entailed the Orchestra where students played a fusion of musical instruments with exuberance and unmatched zeal and rhythm. The students performed a scintillating welcome dance leaving the spectators mesmerized. The Assamese folk dance was a depiction of the rich radiant and vibrant culture and eminence, which was an absolute enlivening performance.

The Principal Mrs. Asha Sharma formally welcomed the esteemed dignitaries in an eco-friendly way and read the school’s Annual Report of the past session 2016-17 highlighting the achievements of the school and the students.

The school journal ‘The Quest’ was launched by the Chairman. After the release, the much-awaited magazine was distributed among the guests of honour.

‘There are many who can teach but few who can reach’, said Dr. Shobha Vaddadhi, in her presidential address. She expressed her gratitude for being given the opportunity to be at our annual function. She emphasized on the importance of student –teacher interaction in a classroom. She also spoke about the role of students and said that the role of sharing is the highest charity in the universe. In conclusion, she expressed her best wishes to all the prize-winners.

This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony where the esteemed guests gave away prizes to the academically meritorious students of the school. The toppers of classes 10 and 12 were also felicitated on this occasion by the Chairman Mr. D.K. Sharma.

Aqeel Abdul Rahiman was conferred with 22 carat gold medal for being the overall topper of Class 12 in the Commerce Stream of the academic year 2016-17. He was even awarded with trophies for being the subject topper in three subjects; English. Business Studies and Informatics.Merin Benny Maliyeckel topped the Science Stream and was awarded with a trophy and a certificate.
The toppers of Class 10 who scored a full 10 point CGPA score were felicitated with awards and certificates. The students who made us proud were Meerja Ameena  Begum, Zarah Theresa, Gohar Iftekhar, Usama Faiz, Subasree Subramani, Rashi Rahul Kulkarni, Ummal Kainath and Adorna Maria Johny.

On this occasion, 8 teaching and non-teaching staff members were felicitated for completion of 5 years of their dedicated service to the institution by Mr. D.K. Sharma, the Chairman of LOA.
Students from classes 1 to 12 assembled a resplendent pageant of music, dance and drama. The students mesmerized the audience with their enchanting Arabic dance performance on the song ‘Salam Alaikum’. ‘Nritya Natika’, a dance drama, based on the theme ‘Mother’ came alive in costume, drama and dance, was an exclusive presentation.

All students presented a colourful cultural programme which was cheered with a huge round of applause from the audience.

The 7th Annual Day concluded with the vote of thanks, given by the Head Boy Narayanan Seshan and Head Girl Sumaiya Parveen leaving behind the promise of a handful of brighter hues the next year.

The day ended with every glittering star carrying a feeling of happiness and achievement with itself. LOA believes that celebration is an occasion for enjoyment as well as a mode to moral values, intellectual creativity, social and respectful attitude towards one another.

The parents left the school premises with an energised feel overwhelming happiness and with smiles on their faces after this exhilarating evening.
