“Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony.” – Mahatma Gandhi
The beautiful morning of 3rd October 2018 was charged with the enthusiastic energy of the sesquicentennial anniversary of the Father of India. The social science department of ICSK conducted a special assembly that had its audience both inspired and mesmerized.
The auspicious day began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The school choir Swaranjali, adorned in their special uniform of pink and blue, invoked the blessings of the Almighty with the prayer song of ICSK which was then followed by hoisting the Kuwait Flag and singing the Kuwait National Anthem. After which, they sang a patriotic song that stirred the hearts of all who had gathered in the ground, during which Mahatma Gandhi himself delivered the message of peace and harmony to the viewers.
Dr. V Binumon then rendered a motivating speech, where he also congratulated Aftaab Kallan on his exemplary achievements, and complimented the winners of the Maths and Science quiz competition.
Mahatma Gandhi once said – Religion is one tree with many branches. As branches, you may say religions are many, but as a tree, religion is only one.
Bearing the above mentioned message in spirit, a galvanizing skit was presented by a group of students, from ICSK. 14 students dressed according to the traditional attire of selected 14 states of India, added zeal to the show.
Gandhiji’s life was a living example of all that he preached. Born and raised in a Hindu merchant family in coastal Gujarat, and trained in law at the Inner Temple, London, he first employed non-violent civil disobedience as an expatriate lawyer in South Africa, in the resident Indian Community’s struggle for civil rights. After his return to India in 1915, he set about organizing peasants, farmers, and urban labourers to protest against excessive land-tax and discrimination. Assuming leadership of the Indian National Congress in 1921, Gandhiji led nationwide campaigns for various social causes and for achieving Swaraj or self-rule.
As a tribute to all the efforts of Gandhiji, the students of the 12th grade performed a skit which kindled a sense of admiration and respect for both Mahatma Gandhi and India.

Gandhiji dedicated his life to discovering and pursuing truth. He stated that the most important battle to fight was overcoming his own demons, fears and insecurities.
A group of junior students from ICSK performed an energetic and vivacious dance performance that enchanted and dazzled the audience.
This was then followed by the usual bout of announcements and birthday wishes.
In order to make the auspicious day more decadent, the students and teachers of the social science department presented a beautiful cake, commemorating the birthday of Gandhiji. It was cut with warm and wholehearted spirit by Dr. V Binumon, Gandhiji himself and all those who were fortunate enough to be born on that day.
The celebration to his legacy was wound up with the pledge and Indian National Anthem.
