Aashirvaad 2019: ICSK immersed in blissful blessings for Class XII students

A colourful blessing and farewell ceremony for Class XII was organized at the Indian Community School Kuwait (Senior) on the14th February 2019. The school bid a fond farewell to the outgoing Class XII batch of 2018-19 with great enthusiasm. The evening was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with friends and teachers to reminisce joyous moments. After the joys and struggles of fourteen long years, their journey in the school came to an end. When school life ends, a new journey into life begins. It was held in the auditorium to recognize the distinguished students wishing them the very best for their Board examinations and their future endeavors. Aashirwaad, the blessing ceremony was also broadcasted live on YouTube and Facebook.

Class XII students were elegantly dressed up for the occasion in black and gold graduation robes. The ceremony commenced with the welcoming of star dignitaries, Chief Guest-His Excellency Mr. K. Jeeva Sagar, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, Guest of Honor-Mr. Ali Al Sayegh, Owner and Chairman of IIK, Members of Board of Trustees ICSK – Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman (Hon. Chairman), Mr. Amer Mohammed (Hon. Secretary), Mr. Agnello Fernandes ( Hon. Jt. Secretary), Principals and Vice-Principals of ICSK Branch Schools. 

The ceremony initiated, seeking the blessings of the Almighty by recitation of the Holy Quran by Master Adnan. The school choir presented a reverent prayer song. This was followed by the National Anthems of both India and Kuwait. Dr. V. Binumon, the Senior Administrator and Principal, ICSK (Senior) rendered the welcome speech, emphasizing on the need to train the mind to see the good in all things and be positive. He also spoke about the 60th edition of the Epics magazine which will be released in May 2019. After welcoming all the guests, the auspicious ritual of lightening the lamp took place ,commemorating the motto of the school – From Darkness to Light. Chief Guest-His Excellency Mr. K. Jeeva Sagar and Guest of Honor-Mr. Ali Al Sayegh along with Dr.  V. Binumon.

The Chief guest, H. E. Mr. K. Jeeva Sagar addressed the gathering emphasizing that the ability to think out of the box is the key to success. He also guided the students to respect everyone and value experience. He extolled that knowledge does not seek anyone but one must seek it. He exclaimed at how beautiful and meaningful the term ‘Aashirvaad’ is and blessed the students for a successful future. The Chief Guest was honored by a memento from the Principal of the school. Academic Excellence and Centurion Awards were given away to the passing out student of Class XII by the Chief Guest. Mr. Ali Al Sayegh, Guest of Honour was presented a memento by Mr. Amer Mohammed and Dr. V. Binumon. The school choir once again enchanted the audience with a mellifluous motivational song.

Reminiscence segment witnessed the students of ICSK sharing their experiences and rendering their gratitude. Master Moses Kurian, the President of the School Senate inspired the audience by reminding them to be helpful towards each other and thanking all the teachers, parents and the school. He recounted some of his most memorable experiences at the school, taking the audience with him down the memory lane. Miss Rithikha Reghupathy, representing the Science stream thanked all the teachers, especially Mrs. Aisha Famy, who was loved very much by all her students. She described the special moments she experienced at the school, thanking her parents and the institution for all the years of unfaltering support and guidance. She also congratulated the school being an amazing example for helping needy people through charity every year. Miss Sarah Sadaf, representing the Commerce stream recounted her experience in speaking to the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on ‘Pariksha par Charcha’. She also marvelled at the opportunities the school presented its students through its many programmes and events. The Reminiscence was concluded by a speech by Miss Ann Mariya Shenny of Humanities stream. She thanked the parents, teachers and the institution for the fourteen years of education and development. She specially mentioned the events that were conducted by the school and the school magazines which provided the students with a platform to develop and improve their literary skills.

Three Hundred Twenty-Two students from forenoon and afternoon sessions were presented with mementos by the Principals of Branch schools along with their class teachers in the presence of Dr. V. Binumon.

The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Mr. Jacob George, Coordinator-Aashirvaad. This was followed by a melodious motivational song by Swaranjali. The event culminated with the lighting of candles symbolizing the flow of knowledge from the teachers to the students. The students were administered the oath by Dr.  Sam T. Kuruvila which they responded in chorus with ‘I promise’. The students then marched out of the auditorium to face the world with head held high, following the school senate obtaining blessings from the Principal of the school, as Swaranjali sung ‘Showers of Blessings’.
