ICSK Senior, Organizes Youth Leadership Programme Training Session

In order to inspire and train its children, ICSK Senior, organized a Youth Leadership orientation session on 12th October 2019 in the school auditorium. There were around 150 enrolments from the school for this session. The distinguished guests for the training session were, DTM Ms. Wafa Salman [the District Director, Toastmasters International], DTM Mr B. Balakrishnan [President Mace Spring Toastmasters Club], DTM Ms. Alka Kumra [District Club Growth Director], TM Ms. Tabasum Ali [Area Director], DTM Gayatri Ravindran[Immediate Past Area Director] DTM Dr. Mohammad Makhloub [Past District Director] and DTM Ms. Alifiya Lakdawala [Immediate Past Division Director]. The parents of the enrolled candidates were also invited for the orientation session.
The programme commenced with the Islamic prayer. The school choir “Swaranjali” presented with a mellifluous prayer song followed by the Kuwait and Indian national anthems.
The Vice Principal of ICSK Senior, Mrs. Susan Rajesh welcomed the invitees with warmth and gratitude. The session got the balling rolling with the lighting of the lamp by the invited guests.
The Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK Senior Dr. V Binumon, did the honour of introducing the trainers. He also enlightened the children about the prominence of the Youth Leadership Programme. He shared the true interpretation of leadership.

He also refreshed the memory of the children by saying that true leaders always practice the three R’s….

DTM Ms. Wafa Salman [District Director Toastmasters International] delivered the presidential address wherein she explicated about the inception of Toastmasters Organisation. The Toastmaster International Organisation has around 16, 800 clubs in over 143 countries worldwide. The core values of Toastmasters are Integrity, Respect, Selflessness and Excellence. Their vision is to empower people about how to communicate better.
Mr. B. Balakrishnan [President, Mace Spring Toastmasters Club] briefly explained about the forming of Toastmasters International. He explained about how their club helped people develop these soft skills in a social environment.
DTM Alka Kumra [District Club Growth Director] shared the benefits of YLP through a power point presentation. She shared the benefits of people learning how to speak, conduct meetings, plan programmes and work on committees. Theirs’ is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs.
YLP focuses on working with others to overcome challenges, build self-confidence, develop problem solving skills, learning to help others and above all how to become a leader, not because of their power but because of their ability to empower others. YLP also boosts the courage in people to make tough decisions and develops the compassion to listen to the needs of others. Later, an interactive session was also held where the children and the parents shared the concerns and queries with the guests.
The session culminated with the Vote of Thanks, delivered by Mrs. Mini Shaji Deputy Vice Principal, ICSK Senior.
Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.
