“Diwali Assembly”

“Diwali Assembly”

‘Light is the harbinger of joy, prosperity and eternal bliss of the soul’

DIWALIlLights illuminate every corner of India during Diwali and the scent of incense sticks hang in the air, mingling with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope. Diwali is a festival of joy and prosperity. It is the celebration of the victory of good over evil. On this auspicious occasion, Jack and Jill and IES Kindergarten children presented a special assembly signifying the festival.

Diwali was celebrated with great festive fervour.

The significance of Diwali was well conveyed when the students of Kindergarten enacted the story of Ramayana and the homecoming of Lord Rama after winning over the demon king Ravana in a fierce battle. The little ones dressed up as the main characters of the story, looked very impressive. The little boy dressed up as Hanuman also did his best escorting Lord Ram and Sita to Ayodhya on their return after the battle. Diwali is not just a day which is an ode to the home coming of Lord Rama, it also carries with it the essence of victory of good over evil. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness or good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

A dazzling dance performance by the LKG and Play group kids added much exuberance and joy to the assembly. They mesmerized the audience with their spectacular dance. The kids were excited about wearing ethnic clothes. Festivals are not only meant for celebration. They are also an opportunity to educate kids about Indian culture and traditions. And schools hold upon themselves the responsibility to educate them about the festivals by engaging them in fun activities. After the assembly children went back to their classes and continued their joy in sharing the sweets with each other. They coloured beautiful pictures related to Diwali and teachers along with children made beautiful paper diyas for our little ones to take away. When children involve in such celebrations in the classrooms they use their creative instincts to use ideas so different, engaging and expressing themselves in their own unique ways!
