45th Annual sports meet of ICSK
On 16th and 17th November 2019, the Indian Community School conducted their 45th Annual Sports Meet at the Kaifan stadium.
Nearly 1000 participants from all the four branches of ICSK contested in the meet. There were around 74 events altogether that included 10 categories for children and separate categories for teachers and parents too.
On 16th November the opening ceremony was organized and the Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman, Honorable Chairman Board of Trustees ICSK. After the Islamic prayer and the Kuwait and Indian national anthems, the flag was hoisted by the Honorable Cahirman Board of Trustees ICSK and the welcome address was delivered by Mr. Rajesh Nair Principal ICSK Amman, followed by the impressive marc h past of all the houses from all the four branches. The torch was lighted by the Chief Guest and the oath was administered by Ms. Beneeta and Master Jacob Sports Captains of ICSK Senior.
The meet was declared open by the Chief Guest. The chief Guest Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman Honorable Chairman Board of Trustees ICSK delivered the inaugural address and released the balloons zealously. The sports meet was a rich two days’ trade. The venue witnessed some of the toughest competitions between the participants of all the four branches with a variety of events and exemplary performances by the participants.
The annual sports meet was announced closed on 17th November 2019 with the lowering of the flag by the Chief Guest for the day Mr. Agnello Antonio Sebastion Fernandes, Honorable Joint Secretary Board of Trustees ICSK and the vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Shirly Dennis, Sports in charge and Principal Junior branch.
On 22nd November 2019, an exuberant felicitation ceremony by the name RESPLENDENCE was structured in the ICSK Senior school auditorium. In the glittering function held in the auditorium, the winners were presented with the awards for their hard earned achievements. The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Dr. Haila Almekaimi, Former Under- Secretary Ministry of Information and Professor of Political Science at Kuwait University. She has an extra feather added to her cap as she had presented a talk at the Jawaharlal University on the title Indo-Kuwait relationship. The other dignitaries were Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman Honorable Chairman Board of Trustees, Mr. Azharuddin Amir Mohammed Honorable Secretary Board of Trustees, Mrs. Shirly Dennis Sports in-charge and Principal Junior branch, Mr. K Ganagdhar Principal Khaitan branch, Mr. Rajesh Nair Principal Amman branch, Dr. Sam T Kuruvilla Vice principal Khaitan, Dr. Mary Isaac Vice Principal Amman, Mrs. Sheeja Vice Principal Junior, Mrs. Susan Rajesh Pothen Vice Principal Senior and Mrs. Mini Shaji Deputy Vice Principal Senior.The programme reflected the well deserved charisma of the occasion.
The inaugural ceremony of the valedictory function commenced with the Islamic prayer by Fathima, Junior branch followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. The invocation song by the ICSK Senior School choir Swaranjali, followed next.
Commencing the ensuing session, the Principal and Senior Administrator Dr. V Binumon greeted and welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. Haila Almekaimi and the other dignitaries with pride.. By quoting the famous basket ball player Mickey Jordan, Dr. V Binumon applauded all the sports participants and their parents for their valuable support and cooperation. The Chief Guest Dr. Haila accompanied by Dr. V Binumon and Mrs. Shirly Dennis, lighted the lamp making it an auspicious moment for all. Dr. Haila addressed the gathering and shared her joy for having witnessed such an extravaganza.
Honorable Chairman Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman accompanied by Mrs. Shirly Dennis presented a memento as a token of gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Haila Almekaimi. Dr. Haila released the Diamond Jubilee song that was written by Mrs. Reshmi Unnikrishnan, P.E teacher ICSK Amman and composed by Mr. M.U Mathew, Music teacher ICSK Senior. Dr. V Binumon, Mr. Amir Mohammed and Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman honoured both of them for their exemplary work.
The Inaugural ceremony came to an end with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Shirly Dennis. Around 900 awards were given away to the winners that included achievers of the cricket team, CBSE clusters, chess tournaments, annual sports meet etc. The awards were given away by the Chief Guest Dr. Haila Almekaimi, Dr. V Binumon, Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman, Mr. Amir Mohammed, Mr. K. Gangadhar and Mr. Rajesh Nair to all the deserving winners of ICSK.
Rohit Krishnan, 9B [Amman branch] has been selected as a member of the Kuwait U-16 National cricket team for the Asian Cricket council Under-16 Western region premier 2019 cricket tournament.
- Mohammed Raashiq 10 E [Senior branch] has been chosen for playing for Kuwait National Cricket Team U-16 and U19 category.
- Mohammed Thoufiq 10 G [Senior Branch] is playing for Kuwait National Cricket team U19 category.
Two girls from Amman, two from Khaitan and one from Senior branch have set new meet records in the 4x100M relay U-14 girls category.

Arnold Jerome Andrid first in 400 M and800M, Benin Gibi Varghese first in 1500 M and 3000 M.
U-17 GILRS
Disha Shenoy first in 100M and 200M
U-19 BOYS
Noel George first in 1500and 5000M, Azam Kunchammed first in100M and long jump.
U-19 GIRLS
Dinah Stephen first in 100Mand long jump, Archana Srinivas first in200M and high jump.
Noel George of class XII ICSK Senior and Dinah Stephen of class XII ICSK Senior were awarded for the Best Sports Person [Boy/Girl] of the Year.
In the U-14 boys category the individual championship was bagged by Senior branch and in the U-14 girls category the individual championship was shared by Amman and Khaitan branch together.
In the U-17 boys category, Khaitan branch bagged two individual championships and in the girls category Senior branch owned two individual championships and one was owned by Amman branch.
In the U-19 boys category two individual championships were bagged b y Khaitan branch and in the girls category two individual championships were bagged by the Senior branch.
