To commemorate the exalted 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev-the founder of Sikhism ,Junior section of IISM was filled with great devotion and enthusiasm to showcase the spectacular special assembly on February 18th 2020 . The splendid day started off with an auspicious quote “He who has no faith in himself can never have faith in God” by Guru Nanak Dev. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Director - Malayil Moosa Koya, Principal Incharge - Sophy John, Vice Principals Mr. Saleem and Mrs.Indulekha, Head Mistress -Sridevi and the examination head -Shabana Faisal. Significance of the day was highlighted by Tanviba in an eloquent speech which enlightened everyone the importance of the sacred festival. Following this, a mesmerizing Kirtan was sung by the choir to express deification to promote peace of mind and heart.
Langar a traditional system which is a core of Sikhism wherein all people are welcome to a free meal was depicted beautifully to spread the message regarding the importance of charity and universal brotherhood among the budding students. Highlight of the day was a skit portraying the teachings of Guru Nanak. Students garbed in the traditional costumes of the Sikhs embellished with musical instruments enhanced the glory of the occasion. Director,Malayil Moosa Koya addressed the gathering .In his speech he enunciated the beauty of IISM in celebrating all religions in synonymous with the tradition of the school. This stands as a testimony that IISM is successfully treading on the secular path to spread the message of peace and universal brotherhood.
Principal In charge, Sophy John in her interactive speech inculcated in the minds of the students the existence of varied religions in India and focusing their teachings based on truth, honesty and humanity and advised everyone to respect all the religions. The propitious day was concluded with loads of appreciation and with a positive note for the students to imbibe good qualities and adhere strongly to the principles of life and uphold the tradition of the school.
