IES WON ‘PIVOT AWARD’ IN THE GLOBAL GOALS COMPETITION-2020

IFL Indians in Kuwait

Bhavans Indian Education School has already established the custom of notching up resounding triumphs in everything it ventures into. An indomitable team of six Bhavanites stood out from the rest in the Global Goals Competition 2020, a project contest held on June 18 and 19, 2020, by the Global Social Leaders (GSL) of the United Kingdom, a movement of socially conscious young leaders focusing on the United Nations' Global Goals for Sustainable Development, with the aim of developing students' understanding of global citizenship. The phenomenal success of the team turned out to be a praiseworthy achievement that all the Indian schools could be proud of as IES was the only team that qualified for the semi-final from the State of Kuwait. The mega competition had received 957 projects from 663 schools of 102 countries.

There were three teams representing Indian Education School, and the team christened ‘Climate Trackers’ comprising the six members of class 8G, Andriel Remi Vattakalam, Joseph Joe Puthenveli, Aaron Anil Thomas, Kiran Varghese Cherian, Kevin Prince, Mohammed Mujtaba Ali, won the prestigious ‘Pivot Award’, a recognition given to the team that kept pace with a rapidly changing environment and adapted their project to be more effective or relevant to the needs of the community. Prior to the preliminary round, the team submitted its project on ‘Climatic Changes’ and it was selected for the semi-final and won the ‘Pivot Award’. Mr. Jijish C., a member of the Department of Social Science, was in charge of the team.

The impressive performance, that sparked a wave of euphoria among the students, the teachers and the parents, clearly reflected the earnest endeavor and relentless pursuit of exemplary excellence of Bhavanites.
