Parent Orientation Programme at IES 

453A9019Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, marshalled prolific orientation programmes for the parents of grades 12 and 10 students on 04 March 2023 at 9.00 am. and 11.00 a.m. respectively in the school auditorium, prior to the beginning of the new academic year. The Senior Leadership Team comprising the Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, the Principal, Mr. T Premkumar, Vice-Principals, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar and Mr. Binoy Mathew were present for the session. The session was purported to adjudge the parent and student community of the expectations and guidelines along with certain policy changes and their implementation to prepare the students for the academic challenges ahead. 

Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, the Vice Principal, Senior wing welcomed and led the presentation for the Grade 12 gathering while Mr. Binoy Mathew, the Vice Principal, Middle wing, conducted the same for the Grade 10 gathering. At the outset itself the class teachers and subject teachers of each class were introduced to the gathering to facilitate mutual interaction. The Vice Principals in their address to the august gathering shared the school’s policies and efforts on building a conducive and healthy learning environment both at school and home, to produce tangible results. They also highlighted the specific emphasis discipline holds in this regard and evinced that the school will leave no stone unturned in enhancing the discipline to upswing the academic standard. The students were also apprised on the importance of practising competency-based questions while preparing for the board exams as it includes 30 % of competency-based questions. Ms. Meenaskhi Nayyar, in her presentation, also enlightened the parent community about the advantages of having the 6th subject in the grade 12 board examination. Mr. Binoy reminded the parents of grade 10 about the provision of choosing Basic Math for those who do not want to pursue the subject further and Standard Math for those who want to study Mathematics as a subject in classes 11 and 12. The assessment schedule and the vacation plan for the academic year were also explained in detail during the session.  

The parents were also advised to monitor the usage of electronic gadgets by the students as the excessive use of gadgets may have physical, emotional, and social impacts, hampering their focus on studies.  Further the parents were also informed that the school discouraged private tuitions as it eats up a major chunk of time from the child’s life without translating into any positive achievement. The orientation programme underlined the paramount importance of keeping the channel of communication open for parents and teachers and strongly urged the parents to make the best use of them. Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon, the chairman in his address to the Grade 12 students and parents, reiterated the importance of developing a rigorous study culture at this stage. He also instructed the parents to direct their wards to study and give returns in terms of positive results, because facing the academic challenge is a way to get prepared to face the challenges the future holds in store for them. In his talk to the Grade 10 students, he asked the students to hold themselves responsible for what they do.  He has also cajoled them to strive towards realising their ambition. Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal also shared his views and concerns during the session and accentuated the need to utilise the time effectively as the time once lost is lost forever. He wished that the voyage of the current academic year be a smooth sailing one. 

The presentation was followed by a question-and-answer session that gave an impetus for a healthy interaction between the parents and the teaching fraternity. The Principal addressed the issues and cleard all the doubts raised by the parents.  The stakeholders expressed their profound gratitude for organising such a fruitful session. Overall, the orientation session was an eventful one for all the Bhavanites as it paved the path for them to confidently stride towards their aims.
