IES PARENT ORIENTATION PROGRAMME: KINDERGARTEN & PRIMARY

IES PARENT ORIENTATION PROGRAMME:

KINDERGARTEN & PRIMARY

1 5Parent Orientation Programme conducted in the beginning of the academic year at Indian Education School Kuwait serves as an excellent prelude to bond school, parents, and students for the common objective, the holistic development of children. This productive collaboration between family and school, helps parents and teachers recognize the true potential of the children. This mutuality of knowledge, understanding, and empathy comes not only with a recognition of the child as the central purpose for the collaboration but also with a recognition of the need to maintain roles and relationships with children that are comprehensive, dynamic, and differentiated.

The orientation programmes for kindergarten and grades 3 & 4 at were conducted on March 18, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. respectively. The orientation for the parents of grades 1 &2 was conducted on March 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. The main objective of the programme was to familiarize the parents, “as partners in progress” with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies and the co-scholastic activities. It was also an occasion for the parents to interact with their wards’ teachers, acquaint themselves with the examination pattern, the various extra-curricular activities their wards can partake in and the support they can provide at every juncture, throughout the year.

The parents were also guided on how to use the Learning Management System with the help of a video prepared by the IT department. A short video showcasing the various events that took place in the academic year 2022-23 was also shown.

The principal, Mr. T. Premkumar, gave an overview of what to expect in the new academic year. The chairman, Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon shared a few tips on good parenting. He spoke about the benefits of effective communication between parents, children, and teachers. He asked the parents to keep the communication channels open. Moving further, he spoke about different ways of nurturing a child with love and care to build a strong foundation for a glorious future. He urged the parents to spend quality time with children and invest in them by talking to them, creating faith in God, and involving them in prayer.

The interactive sessions alongside the topical parenting tips given by the principal and chairman made it an extremely rewarding event. The programme proved to be an ardent effort made by the school in educating the parents and partnering with them for the overall development of the student community.
