IES Hosts Annual Business Talk 2023 - 24 

453A9966 11zonThe Department of Commerce at Indian Education School (IES), Kuwait organized ‘Annual Business Talk’ on 10 May 2023 in the school auditorium. The event aimed at providing students of grades 11 and 12 practical knowledge about the ‘ins and outs’ of real-world business.  

The chief guests and keynote speakers of this enlightening session were Mr. Bharat Suresh Kumar, a business executive at Al-Naji Infotech, holding a post graduate degree in Commerce and an ACCA diploma, and Mr. Susanth K.V, faculty of the department of Commerce at IES. The event commenced with a brief introduction by Mr. Samuel Hani Mod, Faculty of the department of Commerce, followed by a welcome speech by Durga Suresh Kumar of 11-E.  

Mr. Bharat, in his presentation spoke about the challenges he faced as a businessman, and what it takes to run a firm. He elaborated on the importance of having a firm contact base and good consumer relations, as well as the need for passion and not just greed while starting one’s venture. The chief guest then proceeded to give a very informative talk about his family business established in 1996, based in Al-Rai, which supplies stationary materials to banks and other institutions. He then addressed the risks and rewards of the business and gave constructive guidance related to building a customer base for start-up ventures. The talk by Mr. Bharat was followed by the questions of the incipient entrepreneurs who seemed intrigued to know more about the erudition of establishing a start-up and achieving success. 

Following that, Mr. Susanth K V, engaged the audience. Mr. Sushanth who is a successful entrepreneur, ventured into the business of financial services and the stock market, establishing his stock brokering business in April 2012 which has prospered ever since. He spoke about the immense support he received from his family whilst starting his business. He enlightened the students about the key requirements for setting up a successful start-up which requires determination and an optimistic outlook instead of a huge amount of capital.  

The emcees of the day were Ananya Jayadevan of class 12-E and Livia Maria Saju of class 12-F. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ananth Milan of class 12-E. The programme proved to be an enriching interactive session that gave the students an overview of the minute details of starting their own business. The edifying advice given by the entrepreneurs was - “Follow your passions, do what you love and do not prioritize profits”.
