Career Guidance for IES students 

453A0059A comprehensive career guidance session was organized at Indian Educational School for the students of Grades 11 and 12 on 7th December 2023. The objective of the session was to provide valuable insights, information, and guidance to help students make informed decisions about their future career paths. The informative session featured representatives from various universities. The resource persons from Jain (Deemed to be University), Amity University Dubai and University of Bolton (Ras Al Khaimah), were warmly welcomed by the school Principal Mr. T Premkumar. He spoke about the former students of IES who pursued their higher education in the universities of Jain and Amity and got well-placed in various organisations across the world.  

The representatives from each of the universities briefed the students with detailed information regarding the various courses and state of the art facilities provided by them. Mr. Jeetendra and Mr. Vishal, representatives from Jain (Deemed to be University) emphasised the need for understanding the accreditation of the universities, credit transfer options and the quality of courses before enrolment. They further instructed students to consider the proximity to multinational companies for internship and placement while selecting the institutions for higher studies. The resource person elucidated on the plethora of undergraduate courses in various disciplines of Science, Commerce, Computer Applications, Management, Creative Arts and Design, Sports Education and Research along with various important scholarships and innovative tutoring methods offered by the university. The information on project centric learning, entrepreneurship, sports courses, and campus recruitments were immensely beneficial to the students. 

Dr. Ganga and by Ms. Neethu from Amity university, Dubai provided a detailed guideline of the versatility of courses along with the admission requirements and details regarding ultra-modern facilities provided in their campuses. The global student transfer between campuses located in UAE, UK, USA, and Singapore was explained. The undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields pertaining to Finance, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Law, Fine Arts, Animation, Applied Psychology, Film and Television Production, Digital Marketing strategies, Tourism Administration etc. were elaborated by Dr. Ganga. She emphasized that students should have an insight of their academic interests before they choose a course and pursue a career option.  

Mr. Anuroop Ganta, the representative from the University of Bolton touched upon undergraduate career programmes available in the field of Engineering, Accountancy, Computing, Accountancy, Law, Business Management, Psychology etc. He stressed upon the facility of internships provided by the university from the second year onwards which helps to prepare students for the real world as they get firsthand experience in the work environment. Based on students’ performance during internships, they are given direct placement to several organisations.  

Students were intrigued by the diverse streams in various careers available for them to pursue on completion of their senior secondary classes. Queries raised by students regarding admissions, merit scholarships, cut off marks and campus facilities were effectively answered by the university representatives. The session concluded with the vote of thanks by the student counsellor Ms. Preethi K Nair.  

The career guidance session proved to be a valuable initiative in empowering students to make informed decisions about their future careers. By providing comprehensive information, practical insights, and networking opportunities, the event aimed to contribute positively to the professional development of the participating students. The success of this session highlights the importance of continued efforts in career guidance for the benefit of the student community.
