Cambridge Sports Day 2024: A Spectacular Tribute to the 63rd Kuwait National Day and Liberation Day Celebrations 

DSC 1652The hallmark of a formidable team is the unrivaled combination of unity, resilience, discipline, dedication, and commitment. In honour of the 63rd Kuwait National Day and Liberation Day celebrations, the Cambridge Wing of Smart Indian School, Kuwait, put on a spectacular show with the Cambridge Sports Day 2024, on Thursday, 22nd February 2024, to commemorate the valiance and unified efforts that marked the journey of this great nation over the last six decades.

Gracing the event with their esteemed presence were Chief Guest, the Principal of Indian Educational School, Mr. Anand Victor, and Special Guest, the Public Relations Officer of Smart Indian School, Kuwait, Dr. Salah Ali Judyan Al-Bigheliy. The momentous occasion also had the honour of seeing the Founder and Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon, and the Director of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. Madhav Rajesh attend the celebrations along with the senior leadership team of Smart Indian School, Kuwait.  

The grand event commenced at 9:30 A.M. with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran by Abdulrahman Ahmed of grade 9. The soulful recitation was followed by the welcome address by the Head of the Department of English of the Cambridge wing, Ms. Aliuska Lawrence, as the dignitaries were gifted lapels and sashes of the Kuwait national flag in honour of the National Day and Liberation Day celebrations.

Starting the marathon of outstanding performances was a fluid and mesmerising ribbon dance choreography starring gymnasts Anastasya Malak and Hana Nagi of grade 7, and Yara Mohamed of grade 8, followed by a jaw-dropping routine by the young gymnastics National Champion from Egypt, Omar Mohamed of grade 4. Sara Momen, Farida Nagi, Fatema Alaa, and Mariam Mustafa of grade 3 also put up a graceful aerobic display of agility and core strength by.

To enlighten the students and remind the attendees of the rich history and heritage of the State of Kuwait, Lougin Alaa of grade 7, delivered an informative speech in Arabic following the narration in English. Draped with sashes in the colours of the national flag of Kuwait and looking sharp in their suits, the Student Council of the Cambridge wing, comprising students of grades 8 to 10, wowed the audience with a riveting and synchornised march past in perfect formation. The Kuwait National Anthem was sung with pride and unison by the entire assembly of dignitaries, staff, and students as they stood in attention along with the Student Council around the Kuwait national flag, unfurled in its full glory.

Following the anthem was a lovely parade of flags across the school’s quadrangle by the kindergarteners, the youngest members of the Cambridge wing’s student body, in the traditional attire of Kuwait. Driving up the momentum with colourful, magnetising, and enthusiastic drill-displays, the students of the primary and middle school sections showcased spell-binding drill routines demonstrating dexterity, memory power, control, and coordination as they moved in synchrony with colourful balls, iridescent pom-poms, and shimmering hula hoops respectively. The highlight of the hoop display saw the harmonious arrangement of black, green, white, and red hula hoops, in the shape of the national flag of Kuwait, waving in tidal motion to replicate the swaying of the flag in the wind.

Next, rallying together on rollerblades, and adding to the thrill and excitement of the day, students from across the primary, middle, and senior wings, glided around the quadrangle with perfect balance, controlled speed, uniformity, and precision, holding framed portraits of the great late leaders and visionaries of the nation while Adhnan Mustafa and Aayan Abdul of grade 10 narrated the historical journey of Kuwait and the legacy of the great men who had laid the foundations of this noble nation and paved the path to its success. The exhilarating run though the annals of history culminated with the senior members of the rollerblading team bearing the national flag as they strode to a halt in front of the dais.

In his address, Chief Guest, Mr. Anand Victor praised the school and congratulated the students on the fantastic programme. He also expressed his admiration for the amazing and seamless execution of events. Special Guest, Dr. Salah Ali Judyan Al-Bigheliy applauded the efforts of the team and wished them the very best. The Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon, and the Director of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. Madhav Rajesh, also commended the extravagant sports’ day display and wished the students a wonderful National Day and Liberation Day.  The Principal of Smart Indian School, Kuwait, Mr. Mahesh P. Iyer, Senior Vice Principal of Bhavans Kuwait, Ms. Anselma Tessy, Vice Principal of the CBSE wing of Smart Indian School, Ms. Albin Daisy, Vice Principal of the Cambridge wing of Smart Indian School, Ms. Bhavitha Bright, Administrative Manager of Bhavans Kuwait, Ms. Amira Bendary, Academic Coordinator of Bhavans Kuwait, Mr. Santosh Chungath, and Kindergarten Coordinator of Smart Indian School, Ms. Rekha Jayapal also lauded the superb performance of the entire Cambridge team of teachers and students.  

The exciting day emceed by Syed Muhammed Mujataba, Simran Martha Devi, and Mirel Ramez of grade10, drew to a close with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the President of the Student Council, Farah Salehin, and Sports Captain, Sara Salehin of grade 10. The Cambridge Sports Day 2024 was a testament to the dedication of the school in fostering a sense of national pride and its commitment to the holistic development of each and every one of its students, setting ablaze the trail for many more outstanding events in the future.
