LIY02828 11zonIndia International School Mangaf celebrated its 9th Sports Day on 12th December at Al Shabab Stadium, Ahmadi. The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Radha Krishnan, Principal of United Indian School, Jaleeb Al Shuwaikh, Director Malayil Moosa Koya, Operational Manager Mr. Mohammed Iqbal, Pace Group representative Mr. Hisham, Principal K.V. Indulekha, Vice-Principal Dr. Saleem Kundungal, Head Mistress Sridevi Neelakannan, K.G Head Mrs. Najiyah Kader, Coordinators Mr. Shihab Nilgiri, Mrs. Prema Balasubramanyan, as well as esteemed parents, teachers, and students.

The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Basim Umer Bin Saber, followed by its eloquent translation by Fizan Mohd Kader. After this, the principal delivered an inspiring Welcome Address, warmly greeting the distinguished gathering and setting an enthusiastic tone for the day.

The event then proceeded with the hoisting of the Kuwait Flag and the School Flag by the Chief Guest, Mr. Radha Krishnan and Director, Malayil Moosa Koya along with other dignitaries. This was followed by a proud rendition of the Kuwait National Anthem and the school song, sung with unity and enthusiasm, which filled the atmosphere with school spirit.

Next, the vibrant March Past took place, with the four spirited houses—Ideal (Green House), Imperial (Blue House), Sparkle (Red House), and Marvel (Yellow House)—each proudly led by their respective School Council, Captains, and Assistants. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries took the salute, adding a sense of dignity to this ceremonial moment.

In keeping with Olympic tradition, the Head Boy, Master Srihari Nandan, led the torch relay, passing it to the proud athletes of India International School Mangaf. Ultimately, the torch was handed to the Sports Captain, Master Muhammad Qazi, who lit the Olympic Flame, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship, unity, and determination.

Following this, Sports Captain Arshia Libu administered the oath to all the Council Members, House Captains, and Assistants, reaffirming their commitment to uphold integrity, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Chief Guest then officially declared the meet open, marking the start of the much-anticipated events. To celebrate the inauguration, balloons were released by the Chief Guest, Mr. Radha Krishnan, Director, Malayil Moosa Koya and Principal,K.V.Indulekha adding excitement and marking the commencement of a memorable day. The Chief Guest addressed the august gathering and shared words of wisdom, praising the spirit of unity and teamwork displayed by the entire school. He emphasized that what truly matters is dedication and participation, not winning or losing. Moreover, he commended the school team for their meticulous planning and organization of the event. After careful deliberation, the Chief Guest proudly announced Marvel House as the best marching house. The trophy was awarded to the dedicated House Master Mr. Faisal, Assistant House Mistress Mrs. Asma, and the House Captains and Assistants. The team received the award with pride, recognizing it as a tribute to their effort, commitment, and teamwork.

The highlight of the day was the aerobics performance by the talented students of grades VI to VIII, who made history by gracefully incorporating seven diverse classical dance forms. These included Bharatanatyam from Tamil Nadu, Kathak from North India, Kathakali from Kerala, Kuchipudi from Andhra Pradesh, Manipuri from Manipur, Mohiniyattam from Kerala, Odissi from Odisha, and Sattriya from Assam. As the performance reached its breathtaking finale, the students skillfully formed the bold letters "IISM," leaving the audience in awe of their creativity and flawless coordination. After the formation of "IISM," the school song was sung, adding a soulful touch to the event and resonating with pride and unity. Thus, the entire performance became a spectacular display of teamwork and artistic expression, creating a truly memorable moment.

Following this, the track and field events unfolded with boundless energy and enthusiasm, captivating the audience at every turn. Students from grades VI to XII competed in a variety of events, including running races, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, long jump, triple jump, and high jump. Their remarkable determination and teamwork not only made the competitions thrilling but also showcased their unwavering commitment to excellence.

The much-anticipated prize distribution ceremony was a proud moment for the school, as students were awarded medals and certificates, marking the culmination of their dedication and hard work. In the Under-12 category, Mithil Krishna of Class VI-D and Lovina Philip of Class VI-C claimed the championship titles, showcasing exceptional talent. The Under-14 honors went to Reyasat Al Mahmoud of Class VIII-D and Fathima Insha of Class VIII-E for their outstanding performances. Among the Under-17 participants, David Raj of Class X-B and Galiya Ali Akbar of Class IX-B earned the champion titles through their remarkable efforts. In the fiercely contested Under-19 category, Sri Hari Nandhan of Class XII-C and Deon Jiju of Class XII-B shared the boys’ championship, while Aleena Elsa Jojo of Class XII-A emerged as the girls’ champion with a stellar performance.

In recognition of their remarkable performance and teamwork, the Director, Malayil Moosa Koya, presented Ideal House with the Overall Championship Trophy. Ideal House’s spirit of excellence earned them the prestigious title, a true reflection of their hard work and commitment. It was a proud moment for House Mistress Shakila Banu and Assistant House Mistress Mrs. Sathyabama, who had guided and supported their team throughout the competition. Their leadership played a key role in the victory, making it even more meaningful.

Finally, Principal, K.V. Indulekha declared the meet closed, officially marking the successful conclusion of the event. Special appreciation was extended to Dr. Ramesh, the dedicated sports teacher, and his devoted team for their meticulous planning and coordination, ensuring the event's success.
