THE INDIAN COMMUNITY SCHOOL KUWAIT- Khaitan Holds Investiture 21-22 with Pomp
The Indian Community School Kuwait, Khaitan branch (ICSK, Khaitan) in a regally rich fashion, invested the insignia of authority and power with 16 elected members of the ‘Student Senate’ of the school along with house captains and other office bearers for the academic year 21-22. The chief guest of the day was Capt. Malini Sharma. A charismatic personality, she is a professor of Biology at Bhavans College Mumbai and the recipient of many awards and honours including but not limited to Raksha Rajiya Mantri Commendation in 2020 for her supreme dedication and exemplary performance in NCC and the best ANO award for her unparalleled performance at Disaster Management Camp, Nagpur.
The newly designated Senate members and the flag bearers of the four houses of the school have been democratically elected by the students of ICSK, Khaitan. As the ICSK Fraternity always strives to foster a sense of ‘secularism and democracy’ or in other words, a feeling of uniqueness and togetherness, among its family members, the election was indeed a simulation of the parliament elections in any democratic country in the world. Many a worthy contestant filed their nominations for different posts. All the nominations were scrutinized by the electoral officials and the house masters. A festive mood induced by the campaign fever gulfed the virtual campus prior to the election, and it gave the prospective egalitarians a congenial platform to flaunt and showcase their leadership qualities thus assuring the trust of the voters. The election was conducted on September 19, 2021, conserving the secrecy of any democratic election. The very next day, at the summit of the fever pitch, the result of the election was declared.
The investiture of the academic year 21-22 was punctiliously held in the school’s virtual auditorium on September 23, Thursday at 11:00 A.M. The day unfolded with an Islamic prayer followed by the Kuwait National Anthem. The ceremony was attended by the ICSK Family comprising members of the school management, teachers, parents and the students of grade 11 and 12.
The effulgent presence of Capt. Malini Sharma, the chief guest of the day added lustre and grace to the occasion. The Captain was given a reverential salute and guard of honour virtually by the members of Senate. Mr. K. Gangadhar Shirsath, the Principal, ICSK, Khaitan further unfurled the events of the eventful day to life with his welcome address to the august gathering.
The Senate members and house captains of ICSK, Khaitan were invested with their insignia – badges, sashes and flags by their parents while the virtual auditorium pulsated with excitement and ardour. Student Editor (Miss. Nawal Ashraf Nilikkar) Achievers House Captain (Miss. Sabikun Nahar), Achievers House Vice Captain (Miss. Bushra Anwar Khan) Leaders House Captain (Master Sanjay Jitesh Madathil Poyil), Leaders House Vice Captain (Master Mohammad Abdullah) Victors House Captain (Miss. Dania Wilson Varghese) Victors House Vice Captain (Master Joel Joseph Paul Kallarackal) Winners House Captain (Miss. Stacia Agusta D’Silva) and the Winners House Vice Captain (Miss. Maahin Mubasher Mirza).
The oath of allegiance for the newly elected student parliament was administered by the head of the institution, Mr. K. Gangadhar Shirsath. When the young and dynamic leaders with an unfaltering sense of responsibility had sworn in by taking the oath of office, the auditorium once again exploded with euphoric ovation.
On behalf of the ICSK Fraternity, the chief guest Capt. Malini Sharma was presented a memento by Ms. Sherly Dennis, the Principal, ICSK, Junior and Mr. K. Gangadhar Shirsath, the Pprincipal, ICSK, Khaitan, as a token of the family’s love, gratitude and respect. In her address, the Captain reminisced her old school days and the responsibilities she used to take up wholeheartedly. She further exalted the awe-inspiring talents of the students of ICSK. She reminded the students the importance of holding their duties and responsibilities high up in a virtuous manner.
The new corpse d’elite of the Senate rendered a mellifluous song which indeed, did ingrain an unflinching dedication and commitment to the society in general and the ICSK Fraternity in particular.
Aysha Mohamed Sheeraz, the President of the Senate proposed the vote of thanks. The emcees of the day were Arya D’Cruz and Manav Muraleedharan of grade 11C. The Indian National Anthem marked a graceful end to yet another eventful day at the numero uno temple of wisdom in the beautiful land of Kuwait.
