ICSK KHAITAN OBSERVES MARTYRS’ DAY WITH ZARA YAAD KARO QURBANI

ZYKQ 2026 1In a solemn and inspiring observance of Martyrs’ Day, The Indian Community School Kuwait, Khaitan hosted Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani, an interschool patriotic song competition, on Thursday, 29 January 2026, celebrating remembrance, gratitude, and national pride. The school auditorium was transformed into a space of reflection, where music served as a powerful medium to honour the sacrifices of the nation and evoke patriotic spirit.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Mr. K. Gangadhar Shirsath, who graciously welcomed the august gathering. He also extended his appreciation to the principals and management of the participating institutions for their continued support and cooperation, acknowledging their collective efforts in making the event meaningful and memorable.

Ten Indian schools from Kuwait participated in the competition, with each team representing a revered national leader—Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Subhas Chandra Bose, Veer Savarkar, Mangal Pandey, Birsa Munda, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi. Through powerful lyrics and heartfelt renditions, the young performers paid homage to the martyrs whose courage and sacrifice shaped the destiny of the nation.

As the host institution, The Indian Community School Kuwait, Khaitan, delivered a special performance outside the competitive segment, showcasing true sportsmanship and a heartfelt dedication to honour the nation. The special rendition, performed by the school’s own singers who were the first prize winners in the Lulu India Utsav Patriotic Song Competition, reflected a profound love for the country and its patriotic music, setting an inspiring tone for the entire event.

An eminent panel of judges comprising Ms. Pavithra Somasekhar, Ms. Sonali Biswas, Ms. Prerna Shirsath, and Ms. Jeni evaluated the performances and praised the participants for their musical excellence, emotional depth and patriotic fervour. Carmel School, Kuwait emerged as the winner of the event, while Delhi Public School secured the runner up position.

After the felicitation of the winners, the Principal commended all participating schools for their enthusiasm and discipline, highlighting the event’s role in instilling patriotism, deepening love for the country and fostering awareness of the sacrifices made by martyrs , while also nurturing students’ appreciation for patriotic music and promoting unity and national pride. The programme concluded on a reflective note with the Vice Principal, Ms. Sushmeeta Prakash, proposing the vote of thanks. The event was gracefully anchored by student emcees Janani and Prixie, whose confident compering ensured a seamless flow throughout the programme.
