Football Tournament 4th Edition Wily Goes Memorial 7-aside
Indian Strikers crowned Champions
Kuwait: Indian Strikers beat Kerala Challengers 1-0 to inscribe their name on the 4th edition of Wily Goes Memorial 7 a-side football tournament held at MOH Grounds, recently.
It is the first time in Kuwait Indian Football Federation (K.I.F.F) history that two Kerala outfits met in the finals.
Indian Strikers overcame a stiff challenge from the Challengers in the pulsating match. Jagdeesh scored the all-important goal in the finals. Passionate members of the Strikersflew into jubilation at the final whistle including Vice-President Michael and Coach-cum-Team Manager Robert Bernard.
The daylong tournament was organized by United Friends Club under the leadership of President Cajetan Pereira. All teams affiliated to Kuwait Indian Football Federation (KIFF) participated in the tournament while IFRA referees officiated the matches.
Indian Strikers comprising of budding youngsters stormed into the final beating seasoned teams on their way while Kerala Challengers, with a cream of star footballers in their ranks, played excellent football all throughout the tournament.
Indian Strikers comprised of Sijil (goalkeeper), Jagdeesh, Roy Pathrose (captain), Dixon Benedict, Anthony, Suneesh, Hareesh, Salam, Rajesh, etc.
Mr. Sydney Furtado, President of Goan Welfare Society (GWS) was the chief guest on the occasion. He was accompanied by his wife and children. Kuwait Indian Football Federation President Mr. Fidelis Fernandes was the guest of honor. Nicholas Rodrigues, team manager of UFC and other key members were also present.
Earlier, the guests were presented with a bouquet of flowers by little children.
Whilst congratulating the winners, and thanking the chief guest and sponsors, United Friends president Cajetan Pereira applauded the wonderful football dished out by the Kerala teams. Chief guest Sydney Furtado also spoke on the occasion.
In a vote of thanks, Joaquim Rodrigues, General Secretary of United Friends Club thanked all the participating teams, KIFF, and all those who helped in making the tournament a grand success.

Individual prizes were also awarded to the Winners and Runners-up and also the referees.
