KMRM - UAE EXCHANGE “YUVA T20 CUP” Cricket tournament organized by YUVAJYOTHI

 

KMRM - UAE EXCHANGE “YUVA T20 CUP” Cricket tournament organized by YUVAJYOTHI the Malankara Catholic Youth in Kuwait is underway. The tournament has been organized in commemoration of the 20^th Anniversary of KMRM.

 

YUVAJYOTHI the youth division of KMRM was formed in 2005, with the aim of empowering the youth towards the ultimate goal that is “All May be One”. Yuvajyothi could stand shoulder to shoulder with KMRM with all its activities and utilized the opportunities provided to be renowned. With the aim of sharpening the sports talents of our youth in this home way land we are playing cricket matches on all Fridays and Malankara Yuva Challengers (MYC) is the cricket team of YUVAJYOTHI. 

 

KMRM UAE EXCHANGE YUVA T20 CUP-2014 is one of the mega events organized by Yuvajyothi, with a vision of making acquaintance with other communities or associations in Kuwait. There are 16 major teams in Kuwait participating in this Knockout Tournament and the venue is in Zahid Al Khalil Street, South Khaitan near Arab Open University. The League matches are scheduled on 14^th & 21^st of February whereas the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals will be dated on 21^st & 25^th of February. The Final is scheduled at 8.00 Am on 26^th February 2014. The tournament is sponsored by Taiba Hospital, UAE Exchange & Kharafi Global Co. The winners will be awarded with Cash prize sponsored by TAIBA HOSPITAL.Trophy, Medals& Certificates for the winners are sponsored by UAE EXCHANGE. The Runners Up will get cash prize sponsored by BREDZ FACTORY, KHARAFI GLOBAL CO. Trophy, Medals& Certificates are sponsored by UAE EXCHANGE for the runners up, Man of the Tournament & the Man of the match of all matches.

The inaugural section of the tournament on 14^th February 2014, was welcomed by Mr. Stanly Thomas - Yuvajyothi Convener. Advocate Shibu Jacob - Tournament Advisor presided over the meeting where KMRM Advisory Board Chairman Mr. K.O. John officially inaugurated the tournament and insisted on conducting the tournament every year. KMRM President Mr.Babuji Bathery & Yuvajyothi Animator Mr.Jacob Varghese felicitated the tournament. Also present at the opening ceremony were KMRM Secretary Mr. Liju Parackal, Mr. Rose Mathew, Mr. Thomas Mammoottil,  Mr. Joseph K Daniel, Mr. Binu Varghese. Tournament Convener - Mr. Byju Kurian rendered vote of thanks to all gathered.

Five matches were played between different teams on the first day.

Match 1 -  RCC Vs Salmiya Cruisers, was a thrilling match as the result came in the final over. RCC won the toss and elected to bat, scored 98/4 in 12 overs with some special batting performance by Chamindu, Rahul & Akhil. The reply is set by Dilish Kumar single handedly as he scored 61 of 27 balls and sealed the Man of the Match.

Match 2 - between JCC (Jabriya Cricket Club) and X1 Rangers as the former won by 37 runs featured with 4 wickets of Laiju Thomas who became the Man Of the Match.

Match 3 - The third match was between KHARAFI GLOBAL & Malankara Yuva Challengers-A (MYC-A) which resulted in a dramatically win by the latter in the final ball. 13 runs were required in the final over and 4 in last ball where Jino K Abraham hit the required boundary moves MYC to the quarter finals. It was a match with all the beauties of Cricket and none may forget that. Roby Skaria is awarded with Man Of the Match for his 24 runs and 2 wickets.

The fourth match was between KOKAN UNITED and JUWEIRA 11 where the latter stormed in to the Quarter Final with a spectacular batting performance by Ishtiyaque who scored 66 from 33 balls.

The fifth match was between Malankara Yuva Challengers-B (MYC-B) and SG Club (Caesars) and the former entered into the Quarter Finals.

The highlight of the day, however, was the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Horst Berger (Director of Operations-Bredz Factory-Kharafi Global) the co-sponsor of the tournament. In his addressing Mr. Berger appreciated the efforts and hard work of YUVAJYOTHI in conducting such an organized tournament.

Semifinals and Finals are scheduled on 25th and 26th of February respectively.  Organizers invite all the cricket lovers to join with them to support the teams and cricket.
