Srikanth enters semis; Sindhu bows out of Singapore Open

 India’s K. Srikanth got the better of world No. 14 Hun Yu of Hong Kong 17-21, 21-14, 21-19 to enter the men’s singles semifinals of the Singapore Super Series badminton even as P.V. Sindhu and B. Sai Praneeth crashed out in straight games, here on Friday.

By virtue of this win, Srikanth, ranked 25th in the world, has taken a 2-0 lead over Yu in their career meetings.

The previous time both the players locked horns was at the Malaysia Open Super Series Premier in January.

Srikanth, who won a marathon quarterfinal match that lasted an hour and three minutes, set up a last-four date against top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.

In other last-eight matches, second seed and world No. 3 Wang Yihan of China defeated eight seed Sindhu 21-19, 21-15 in 37 minutes while fifth seed Du Pengyu of China downed Praneeth 21-15, 21-15 in 39 minutes.
