MS Dhoni sets records

MS Dhoni became the first Indian ODI skipper to lead the team in three ODI series whitewashes. The skipper achieved the feat when India beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in Harare to complete the 3-0 whitewash.

In series with three or more matches, Dhoni became the first skipper to achieve the feat when India blanked England 5-0 in 2008/09 series. Yuvraj Singh was the star performer and was adjudged the player of the tournament.

Dhoni-led India repeated the feat in 2011/12 against the same opposition and this time it was skipper’s turn to lead from the front as he was the player of the tournament.

Since then Dhoni has not enjoyed much success in bilateral series as skipper. His last series win, before India took unassailable lead over Zimbabwe, came over West Indies in 2014.

With the Zimbabwe win, Dhoni also became the 2nd most successful ODI skipper with 107 wins. He is joint second with Allan Border, and behind Ricky Ponting.
