Science International Forum (SIF), Kuwait announced ‘Meet the Scientist’ program for the year 2020. Meet the Scientist is conducted by SIF Kuwait every year exclusivly for the title winners of Sastra Prathibha Contest. The event is scheduled to be held on 28th November, 2020 at 11.00 AM on virtual platform taking into consideration the present COVID 19 situation. The chief guest for the event will be Padmasree Dr. Y. S. Rajan.
Dr. Y.S. Rajan has a proven track record of excellence as a Scientist, Technologist, Administrator, Organisation Builder and Leader, Diplomat, Academician, Writer and Poet. He combines a unique ability for original and innovative thinking with strong implementation skills. He is the Honorary Distinguised Professor at ISRO and has worked closely with Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Meet the Scientist program provides experience, appreciation, motivation and knowledge for the winners of SPC contest every year. It has proved to be the life time opportunity for them to listen to the top Indian academic and scientific brains of the time. For the academic year 2019 – 2020 there were 18 Sastra Prathibha title winners from 20 Indian schools in Kuwait. More than 6000 students from Grade 4 to Grade 10 participated in the Sastra Prathibha Contest. SPC contest has proved to be the largerst in terms of participation, one of its kind in Kuwait. The title winners are announced after a TWO level contest. 1st Level is a pure written objective type test. 2nd Level is conducted as a one day science camp where the qualifying students of Level 1 are made to attend many rounds including written as well as hands-on experiment based rounds along with a presentation and viva voce.
SIF-Kuwait, a voluntary non-profit organization, and an extension of Vijnana Bharati (the largest science movement in India headed by Dr.Vijay Bhatkar); is working among Indian students and professionals in Kuwait since 2014. Sastra Prathibha Contest is the Middle East countries version of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan jointly organised by Vijnana Bharati, Vigyan Prasar (GoI), and NCERT.
