ICS presents An Evening of Ghazal — a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Jagjit Singh by the living legend Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan.
Indian Cultural Society (ICS) proudly announces “Apni Dhun Mein Rahta Hoon”. Join us for a distinguished evening celebrating the timeless art of Ghazals on Friday, 7th November 2025, at 7:00 pm. The evening will be graced by the iconic Maestro of Melody, Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan sahib accompanied by Aamir Ali Khan, Ranjeet Rajwada (the young and renowned Ghazal virtuoso) and Naazir Ali Khan.
Ustad Ghulam Ali is revered as one of the greatest Ghazal singers of all time -a distinguished disciple of the legendary Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. His profound mastery of Hindustani classical music, coupled with his exceptional ability to blend its intricacies with the soulful depth of Ghazal poetry have created a style uniquely his own. With every rendition, he continues to enchant generations of music lovers, embodying the timeless essence of melody and emotion.
Ghulam Ali’s mellifluous voice and intricate tans (melodic variations) captivated audiences across India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and among the South Asian diaspora worldwide, particularly in the UK, USA, Canada , Australia and the Middle East.
He made his memorable debut in Indian cinema with the iconic Ghazal written by Hasrat Mohani Chupke Chupke Raat Din (B.R. Chopra’s film Nikaah) a song that remains evergreen.
Many of his Ghazals: Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa, Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat Thi, Awaargi, Apni Dhun Mein Rehta Hoon, and Humko Kiske Gham Ne Maara are considered masterpieces, reflecting both poetic depth and musical brilliance.
Ustad Ghulam Ali’s choice of poetry spans generations of literary greats from Mirza Ghalib, Daag Dehlavi, and Momin Khan Momin to Ibn-e-Insha, Nasir Kazmi, and Mohsin Naqvi. His live concerts, including a historic performance at the Taj Mahal, have mesmerized audiences with their spiritual intensity and classical finesse.

His son Aamir Ali Khan and grandson Nazeer Ali Khan will enhance the charm of the evening with their soulful performances.
Ranjeet Rajwadat is a youngest Ghazal Maestro in India who hails from Rajasthan and was appreciated nationally on the show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Superstars 2010 for his enthralling performances. His talent defines the epitome of blissfulness when it comes to entertainment. Ranjeet Rajwada, with a voice so smooth, it metaphorically melts in your heart through your ears. The Industry giants have applauded him for his effortless flair & blissful crooning.

He discovered his passion for Ghazals at a very young age and has since captivated audiences with his soulful renditions. He has been honored and appreciated by distinguished personalities including former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, and renowned maestros Ustad Ghulam Ali and late Jagjit Singh.
