Kerala engineering entrance exam may be called off

The state govt is mulling to stop engineering entrance exam in the state. If the decision comes into effect, admission to engineering colleges would be solely based on Plus Two marks.

Now most of the seats in Plus Two schools and Govt Engineering Colleges remain vacant. This has made the Govt to think of discontinuing with the entrance exams inorder to attract more students to the realm. The Govt feels that by making Plus Two marks the only criteria for engineering admission, students will adopt state syllabus to score maximum marks expecting liberal valuation at Plus Two examination.

A decision on this was taken at the discussion held by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy along with Education minister Adbu Rabb and Kerala Engineering College Management Association. Many engineering aspirants fail to make it to the course unable to clear the entrance exams.
