Beat exam stress

 
 As the month draws to a close, the dreaded Board exams inch closer. City students share their strategies and ways of coping with the exam stress.

No matter how confident one appears to be, exam time does give jitters. Dime a dozen strategies and suggestions add to the anxiety level. Assimilating and integrating the overload of course material and time management are the biggest challenges I am facing. To deal with it, I have set a realistic goal, and am staying focused and keeping myself motivated. There is no ‘one’ right way to study that guarantees grades to meet university cutoffs.

I have created a daily schedule according to which my day starts at 8 in the morning and ends at 12 in the night. No ‘all- nighters’ is my exam resolution. Secondly, after completing each chapter, I take a music break of 5 to 10 minutes to relax. Keeping in mind my date sheet, I have decided to cover the subjects which have fewer gaps first. I’m keeping short notes which would help me skim through them at the last minute. Lastly, my exam strategy is not to rule out stress completely because it’s natural at this point. I am planning to use it positively to enhance my performance.

As the Board examinations are approaching, I am finding it increasingly difficult to focus as I keep getting distracted. However, I console myself by thinking of all the free time I will get once the examinations are over. My main aim is to score A1 in the social sciences, mathematics and science. I am studying for about nine to ten hours a day. I take a break every three-four hours during which I listen to music or play basketball on my phone.
