IMG 8730 1 11zonAs educators, we understand our responsibility towards young children goes beyond imparting quality education. Their well-being and safety while they are at school is our obligation. To keep up with this, the management at Dar Al Salam Group initiated a First Aid Training for teachers and school nurses under the Faculty Enrichment Program for Indian Central School, Pakistan English School and Aspire Indian International School. The training was conducted by Mrs. Sherly Mathew, member of International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) at AIIS Auditorium adhering to CBSE guidelines on First Aid Training for Faculty.

The training session received an overwhelming response with an attendance of over 170 teaching and non-teaching faculty members. The areas of training addressed were first aid response, basic emergency care and first aid responder’s role in physical and mental health care. Mrs. Shirley discussed with the teachers about the most common school emergencies and their first aid equivalent including how to stop nosebleeds, choking management, treating sprains and fractures, first aid for wounds, and much more.

The three-hour long session included engaging Q&As where teachers from the audience explained multiple scenarios they face in a classroom and on campus. Mrs. Shirley delivered live demonstration with volunteers where she illustrated usage of first aid kit, slings in order minimize injury from sprains or fractures.

The Management of ICS, PES and AIIS asseverates this First aid training for teachers and school staff will promote a sense of safety. Knowledge of first aid will facilitate them to become more active and alert. It will make them capable of managing incidents and allow them to take care of children’s injuries promptly. Performing first aid helps reduce the child’s recovery time and can save them from turning temporary disability into a permanent one.
