Tribute paid to legends at Writer Forum’s Monthly meeting

GroupOctober is the month when all the Indians remember their Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, who was born on the 2nd of October, a day that is celebrated in India as Gandhi Jayanti.

For the Urdu lovers worldwide, October is also the month when they remember legendary Urdu poet and one of the greatest film lyricist of the 20th century Sahir Ludhyanwi whose death anniversary falls on 25th of October.

Both these legends were well remembered at the Writers' Forum meeting held on 26th October at the residence of Ms. Sabiha Bilgrami.

The meeting started with Ms. Nazneen Ali the general secretary of the forum inviting Dr Rajesh Gupta as the president of the evening and Syed Muzammil Qadar as the chief guest of the evening.

The first session of the meeting was a tribute to the two legends with the President of the forum Mrs. Maimuna Chougle reading an enlightening article on the life of Sahir Ludhyanwi and Nazneen Ali paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi through her short story titled "Mujassma e Amn", the Statue of Peace. Pankaj Tiwari's article on life and relations was equally captivating making the first session a memorable one.

The poetry session of the meeting was equally mesmerizing with a blend of languages and versatility of subjects. Ms Nazneen Ali and Dr. Vinod astonished the audience by showcasing different angles to a same subject addressing failure through their Hindi poetry. Ms Ikhlaas brought intensity through her emotional poem for Mother while Ms. Sabiha Bilgrami added wit through her Gujrati poem Jaman meaning meal. The charm and charisma of Urdu poetry was witnessed through the Ghazal by Sayeed Nazar Kadpawi and nazm by Shabih Ahmed.

After a stunning poetry session the meeting progressed into its last session where meaningful insight about the evening and each of the presentation was given by the Chief Guest Syed Muzammil and President Dr. Rajesh. The variation in language and the correct placement of words was then enjoyed by all through an Urdu Ghazal by Syed Muzammil while Dr Rajesh took creativity to next level through his Ghazal that was on the rythm and style of Sahir's ghazal.

The meeting ended with Ms.Nazneen Ali thanking the hosts for the wonderful arrangements and the members enjoying delicacies served by Ms. Sabiha Bilgrami and her brother Mr Zayed.
