We did spend an enjoyable and lively evening with Mr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, a veteran of 30 years in the field of insurance who deals with General Insurance

Mr. Siddhartha Mukherjee is the Resident Manager of Oriental Insurance Company, one of the India’s largest non-life insurance company owned by Government of India and represented in Kuwait by Al Mulla Co.WLL. In Kuwait due to the close cooperation between the Principals and the Agents, Oriental is one of the largest foreign insurance company in Kuwait in revenue terms.

Commenting about non-life insurance, Siddhartha quips “People need to buy non-life insurance not because they are going to have accidents but because  they are going to be financially secure in the event of an accident. Once this is explained to a person, he will buy a policy readily”. Even in the intensely competitive world of General Insurance business, Siddhartha is a top-notch specialist with lots of success already achieved in his career till now.

“His father, Mr. Saroj Ranjan Mukherjee, with his dedication and extensive knowledge of Jute Technology, was much sought after by the various Jute Mills in Kolkata, India. “Hard work, knowledge and sincerity are my strengths too”, muses Mr. Mukherjee.

Siddhartha Mukherjee did his schooling in Kolkata & suburbs and later studied at Vivekananda Centenary College of  Rama Krishna Mission at Rahara. He acquired his Bachelor’s Honours degree in Zoology and completed his post graduation with Master of Science in Zoology with specialization in Fishery at Kolkata University. When he was working on his PhD in Marine Biology, he got an offer to join Oriental Insurance Company as a direct Recruit  Officer through an all India competition examination  and hence discontinued his doctorate course.

He started his illustrious career with Oriental Insurance Company in 1985 as Assistant Admin Officer at Aurangabad, Maharashtra and was later posted to Gauwhati. He has worked in Eastern, North eastern & Western zones of India.  He mastered the various complicated issues involved in general insurance dealing with natural disasters like earthquake, floods etc and got a good grounding about insurance requirements of various Retail and Corporate business enterprises. Also, he obtained professional Insurance Qualifications and became a Fellow of Insurance Institute of India.

As a person who treats all customers, employees and general public with respect and courtesy, Mr. Siddhartha Mukherjee had no difficulty in building a well-motivated team around him wherever he is posted. The success shown by him in business development saw him being promoted as Admin Officer and posted to Kolkata.

For the next six years, he enjoyed facing and overcoming the intricate challenges in the competitive environment and won accolades from his superiors. He was then posted to Pune to oversee marketing efforts of the company as a Profit Centre head.  After a stint at Nasik and again in Pune he was hand-picked and posted to Singapore in 2007 at an Associate Company named India International Insurance PTE Ltd.

While working at the prestigious Singapore Office, Siddhartha had first-hand experience to the nuances of the Marine Hull insurance in the international arena. Naturally, due to his excellent performance he was promoted as Chief Manager in no time. After a further four years, he returned to India to take over as Regional Manager at Mumbai.

In May 2014, he landed in Kuwait to take up his assignment as the Resident Manager of Oriental Insurance Company in Kuwait. Oriental insurance Company and Al Mulla Group have principal-Agent relationship stretching to 27 years. The company offers Marine, Fire, Health, Engineering and Workman Compensation insurance schemes that are specifically suited to various companies, including Multi-Nationals. “Oriental Insurance” company has excellent reputation in Kuwait and enjoys wide patronage” highlights Mukherjee. It also caters to large Indian Expatriate population in Kuwait for all their Insurance needs.

Meeting new people and seeing new places and enriches one ‘s knowledge and extends the bounce of experience. Siddhartha loves travelling and mingling people. Hence, he is confident of taking the business of his company to even greater heights during his tenure. Customers in Kuwait can look forward to a renewed commitment from the Company with improved service levels as also new products tailor made to meet their requirements.

He is loyal and thankful to his company, which contributed a lot to his life. He is convinced that without Oriental Insurance he could not have reached at this level of achievements.

A simple person who gets involved with able guidance to any issue to be tackled by his subordinates, Mukherjee receives unstinting support from his colleagues. Resolving conflicts, leaving all parties with a feeling of victory is his specialty. Travel, reading, writing and music are his hobbies.

Siddhartha Mukherjee is happily married to Mrs. Pritha Mukherjee, who settled down to her role of home-maker to give all support and encouragement to Mr. Mukherjee to pursue progress in his career across the globe. The couple are blessed with two lovely daughters. The elder one, Ms. Sohini is on her way to acquire her MBA from the National Insurance Academy at Pune. The younger one, Ms. Sayani is studying in Kuwait at FAWIPS.

“Regular transfers and posting to new surroundings, in India and outside, has affected the amount of time I could spend with my elderly parents” says Mukherjee in a regretful tone. But the same has benefited his children by giving them new experiences and widening their outlook.

Siddhartha Mukherjee had spent nearly 30 years serving his company in a loyal and dedicated way, making significant contribution to its growth and development. Given that “Hard work, knowledge and Sincerity” are his major strengths, Siddhartha Mukherjee is sure to go further up in the corporate ladder towards the top slot in his Company.
