He is a Qualified Chartered Accountant, hails from Madurai, Tamil Nadu & working as Vice President - Operations with Al Ghannam Tires Center, part of KAPICO, the leading Automobile Group in Kuwait specialized into after market products, spread across 13 Countries with diversified business interests.
Jaishankar recollects & shares his early days & road map for success...
Born & brought up in a middle class family as youngest son of Late Shri Srinivasan, a Civil Engineer with Tamil Nadu Highways Department & Smt. Padmavathy, home maker, Jaishankar has 2 elder brothers & an elder sister.
Jaishankar completed B.Sc - Maths & though father was interested to see him as an Engineer, he was influenced & attracted by challenging profession ie., Chartered Accountancy & therefore joined with an Auditor for Articles. A tough course that require undivided focus & perseverance, it needs strong will power & never die attitude, raise every time from fall – build up a strong in depth knowledge professional.
Unlike other professional courses like Engineering & Medical where entry is tough & completion is not so, it's reverse in case of CA. He recalls his father who spent late nights accompanying his studies as moral support who left for heavenly abode in 1990 & without seeing son tasting first success of CA result.
Immediately on completing Intermediate, he joined with BPL Limited in 1992, the then Consumer Electronic Group, took responsibility of Financial Accounting of Coimbatore branch. In the next two years, Coimbatore branch was rated with Best presented financials. Tenure in this branch laid strong foundation to learn Corporate culture in one of the best managed companies.
Supported by Mother (as by then brothers & sister were married), who was instrumental in shaping him as a good human being & also highlighting priorities in life, the best gift mother presented - Sujatha, as life partner, to take over remaining, unfulfilled responsibilities to her son.
Sujatha was also born in a middle class family as elder daughter of Shri Janakiraman & Smt Swarnambal. A self supported, hard working couple, they brought up Sujatha & her younger sister with best family values.
Married in 1996, to a vibrant, extrovert, multi talented - yet very simple & humble young girl, the life transformed by her instigation & motivation to move out & grow further in career. Next assignment was at Junior Management cadre with Enercon India Limited, specialized into Wind Mill manufacturing & installation - a heavy capital intensive industry. Jaishankar accepted transfer to far away place, Daman, a Union Territory, located at northern central border of India, with a strong objective of growing in profession & education as well.
Shri Janakiraman took the responsibility of Jaishankar’s father in consistently driving & motivating him to become a successful professional. Dedicated approach, strong will power & zeal to achieve tough tasks led Jaishankar to grow as part of Core Management Group responsible for devising & formulating Rules, Regulations, Business conduct norms of fast growing Corporate, laid as strong foundation with which today the Company stand tall as US$ 600 Million Group and same time, with blessings of parents, unparalleled support from wife, he passed out of CA Final.
As young couple, in an unknown place, new culture, new community they left memorable moments with group of friends especially due to Sujatha’s nature of getting along with new people, talent in organizing interesting events etc.,
As time moved on, the family expanded with elder son Aaditya born in 1999 & Jaishankar was called back to re-join with the then leading Consumer Electronic giant, BPL Limited as Head of Commercial for two states ie., Madhya Pradesh & Chattisgarh. The challenge was to maintain commercial discipline, high quality customer deliverables, budgetary controls - a blend of operational finance, transformed the finance professional into a business focused personality.
The career graph grew upwards, migrating to Middle East, to The State of Kuwait, with a leading entertainment distribution company inviting him for Oracle implementation & Finance Head position.
Next assignment brought him to Al Ghannam Tires Center, the flag ship company of leading Automotive Group KAPICO. Joined as Commercial Manager in early 2006, demonstrated his expertise in various finance functions over 9 years, he now heads the Tires Division Business of Kuwait.
Jaishankar attributes his professional success to his mentors, well wishers & Bosses viz., Ravi kumar, Vasanth Kumar & Suresh who nurtured his Finance, Commercial, Human Resources & Business skills and not the least, his wife & children who stood by him in all rise & fall situations.
Sujatha has been involved in various socio cultural activities in Kuwait for more than a decade, being a part of Kuwait Tamil Association (KTS) at earlier stages. She is also part of Bharat Samskar Kendra as Sevika and organized many cultural programs. An outspoken personality, she makes the audience spell bound with her natural, free flowing, interactive communication in all sessions wherever she leads the show. She has been well motivated & supported by Jaishankar to excel more and more in her social initiatives & participation.
She is a teacher with Indian Educational School (IES) in the primary wing. Naturally, the inborn skills were explored & utilized in school cultural programs. She handles the family responsibility completely without allowing Jaishankar to get worried on any single matter, enabling him to concentrate on his work front. Though living far away from home town, Sujatha maintains the roots & tradition by celebrating all festivals & rituals with passion.
Aaditya, elder son is studying 10th standard in IES - a charming – young boy, talented badminton player, represented Kuwait CBSE clusters & also one of best players in his category in Indian Badminton Association (IBAK). He is a budding, promising player – presently experiencing mix of wins & losses making him stronger to face tough competitive situations in life. Flair for acting & dance influenced by mother performances, balancing studies entering into crucial stage of senior secondary along with games, Aaditya wish to become an Engineer.
Ashwin, younger son is studying 4th standard in IES, a smart & energetic kid, following foot steps of brother in Badminton with a couple of victories at coaching module tournament conducted by IBAK, has interest in reading books & drawing, updating news on current affairs, humorous sense like father, he keeps the surrounding environment alive always.
Jaishankar recollects his career stint of 22 years in which Companies he served has given significant career growth, abundant opportunity to learn business intricacies by liaising with many levels of Management & he is thankful to all the companies.
The position held in current assignment has challenging tasks on work front & also provide ample scope to provide opportunities & job creations for many nationalities. He has been a mentor for career guidance, education consultancy; inter personal relation development, job enrichment for many of his staff in last 2 decades.
More than success in business, he attributes satisfaction in creating employment opportunities to deserving people, especially in the region where unskilled / semi skilled workers find it hard for right job at right package. Blessings from those benefited families are taken as real contribution given to society, as a return for the community.
This couple is thankful to God, elders & well wishers for the Education, Position & Comfort earned, but beyond this, supporting people in need thro organized channels gives life time happiness. What else can be treated as real – long standing achievement…
Sujatha’s ambition is to set up & provide quality education in India and Jaishankar extends full support for this cause. The couple with Noble Vision..!
