The gentle and ever smiling Mr. N.SatishchandraShetty is towering personality both physically and in in mentality. He is a man with passion to do something in his life. He was born in Karkala near Mangalore in the state of Karnataka. His father  Mr. Narshimha Shetty was an employee of a Coffee estate. His father later on bought a coffee estate for himself.

As a child Satish heard his father often saying that owning a business is the best thing in life. The seed of having his own business was thus sown in the mind of  Satish at a very young age and it grew with age.

Satish who is one among his six siblings, completed his schooling in Chikamagalur and then shifted to Sathya Sai College Alike, Vittla near Mangalore to do his P.U.C. and then later on to do B.Sc in Karkala Shri Bhuvanendra College. It was here that Satish came in contact with higher principle of life like peace within one self, being amicable with all.

He attributes the serene atmosphere of SathyaSai College for such qualities to be developed and imbibed in his personality. He soon came to realize that anger causes a fog in mind and hence the focus on one’s goal is lost.

Though his father wanted Satish to become a doctor because at that time in his community it was seen by the society as a very high status oriented job and attracted lot of respect from his community members. But the burning desire in  Satish to do something of his own became so intense that he set his eyes on foreign shores to earn money and then establish a business in India.

After a brief stint in Bombay as a salesman, he took up job in a hotel and landed in Dubai. Due to his sheer hard work and his passion to do anything in the best way, a few years’ time he was promoted to do more responsible jobs and in about two years’ of time he became the  Department Manager of that hotel.

In the year 1984.due to the economic downslide at that time business in Dubai became dull and then he got a good offer with Hilton International Kuwait  in the same year 1984, So he came to Kuwait to work with Hilton hotels. At that time he was searching for any restaurant which is up for sale.

He soon bought out one restaurant which was running at some loss. But the burning desire in him to do the best again came to his good stead and very soon the restaurant had a swelling in its profits.  During the invasion though Satish had to return to India he did not lose hope and continued to dream big and work towards it.

After the invasion Mr. Satish came back to Kuwait in the year 1993 and very soon he bought out a restaurant in Kuwait city and made the restaurant into a food joint serving Indian, Chinese and Arabic dishes. Hence he coined the name Oriental Restaurant. He could attract customers from far and wide due to the excellent service and consistency in quality of the variety types of dishes.

The business empire grew to proportions that he was able to open many outlets in Kuwait city.He says through the thick and thin of establishing his Oriental Empire he had never lost hope and always had his goal in sight. He gives credit to this steadfastness to the various books he has read in his college days on self-development. His most favored author is Dale Carnegie whose famous book, “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living” was a game changer for him.

His main principle in life is never run after lifestyle. He says all of us should be rather working towards improving the quality of life and the lifestyle will automatically follow.

As social corporate responsibility he is involved in donating funds to schools in India is also involved in other philanthropic activites.
