Genesis

• Started in 2004; With less than 100 doctors as members;
• Founding Committee :  Dr. Narayanan Nampoory (President);
•  Dr. Amir Ahmed (General Secretary);   Dr. George Verghese;   Dr. Ramesh Pandita;   Dr. Noble Zackaria;  Dr. Prasad Nair;  Dr. Jaganath RC;  Dr. Ramachandra ; & others;
• Objective :
• To serve the community in an organized manner;
• To bring about greater solidarity among Indian doctors in Kuwait;
• To help them come together to exchange ideas and voice their concerns more effectively.
• Non-Profit organization;  Indian Ambassador is the Patron of IDF
• Dr. Amir Ahmed, the newly elected President of IDF for 2012.

 

Major Activities

Free Medical Camps:

• Held once in a month, usually at a local school on a holiday
• For less privileged community members who otherwise could not afford such medical attention
• Nearly 1000 people visit the camp and are attended to by about 50 doctors
• Free checkup, specialized consultations, friendly advice to educate and caution people on illness

'Meet the Specialist' seminars

• Started by the committee headed by Dr Ramesh Pandita.
• To create awareness on specific diseases like chronic illness and life style influenced illnesses
• Usually conducted at the KMA Hall in Jabriya and always well attended
• Speech by the specialists;  Inter-active sessions with audience; In regional languages too;
• Past seminars - on ill effects of smoking, obesity, diabetes, cardiac diseases, kidney diseases
• Next seminar to be on heart related illnesses with free screening and ECG monitoring at the venue and is scheduled for Saturday, 29th September,  the World Heart Day.”
