Jitu Patel is a senior health and safety consultant with over 45 years of SH&E experience in the chemical, oil and gas industries. For 21 years, he provided professional services to Aramco - oil and gas producing and processing corporation in Saudi Arabia.
 
For 15 years, he provided technical training and conducted research in fire/explosions, health and environmental issues at a chemical manufacturing company for the safe processing, storage and distribution of products such as chlorine, bromine, halogenated hydrocarbons, anti-knock lead additives for gasoline, hydrogen, caustics and acids.
 
He has prepared many safety audit reports and has developed and conducted fire and safety seminars. He has also assisted in the development of safety engineering standards for Middle East countries. In addition, his work has been featured in several international publications, and he has presented at international conferences.
 
Patel holds a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics and an M.Phil in energy and fuel science from Leeds University, U.K. He is honored with American Society of Safety Engineers Fellow Award in the year 2011 and he is first Indian to receive this prestigious award. He is instrumental and one of the founding member of ASSE India chapter in the year 2012 at Chennai, India.
 
Patel has authored many articles, which are published worldwide professional journals of high repute. We are proud of Patel who always shares his professional and leadership skills internationally! He is an international health, safety and management consultant. His work has taken him throughout the world serving on such boards and committees internationally in addition to US national organizations.
 
He is a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) for Health & Safety of the Board of Environmental Professional Certification (BEAC), USA.He is also a member of the Training & Education Committee of the BEAC. He is a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and a pioneer founding member and three times President of the ASSE Middle East Chapter and also a founder of the ASSE Philippine and India Chapters. He is a Membership Chair of the ASSE International Practicing Specialty. He is also a member of the ASSE Council Member & Regions Affairs Global Committee. His State and US National level health & safety contributions were recognized awarding him with the Howard Hiedman Award for a 2006-2007 - Arizona ASSE Safety Professional of the Year. He is s senior board adviser to the executive board of the ASSE Arizona Chapter.
 
Mr. Patel is also honored with the highest and most prestigious award of a Fellow of the ASSE. He is a recipient of the ASSE’s 2012 Diversity & International Practice Specialty Awards.
 
Mr. Patel is the Chief Consultant to Bill Sims Company, USA, HSE Director, Dallah Human Skills Development, KSA, Senior Principal Consultant with AcuTech Consulting Group, USA.
 
Patel's early sixties research work was to improve fuel efficiency in jet-propelled engines which also had applications to burner designs of domestic cooking ranges and industrial boilers for utilizing natural Gas. He continued working as a scientist for many years addressing manufacturing, storage, transport and associated emergencies dealing with chemicals which are extremely reactive, explosive and highly toxic. He was involved in developing techniques to capture and contain toxic emissions having high potential to cause severe air, water and soil pollution. He was also engaged in salvaging 900 barrels of deadly poisonous compounds safely from the sunken "Cavtat" wreck in the Adriatic Sea. He was heavily involved in developing and evaluating the gas detecting sensors for the state-of-the-art early warning devices for benefit of industries dealing with hazardous materials.
 
Since retirement, Patel offers a variety of technical and management seminars to Safety & Fire Prevention engineers and line management staff of major oil, gas, petro-chemical and chemicals manufacturing corporations and also for their associated expansion or modernization construction projects, graduate program students and faculty at universities within the USA and abroad.
 
During his retirement since 2002 onward, Mr. Patel is dedicated to serve the Indian seniors community in Arizona. He has founded the senior centers where he coordinate activities for the senior citizens for their good health and happiness on an ongoing basis for the retired professionals including physicians, engineers, lawyers and business community and their spouses. He is also assisting others in and out of the USA in opening similar centers to serve the seniors at various locations.
 
Patel is grateful to his wife, two daughters and their families for their understanding and support letting him travel world-wide working for the mission. Patel attributed his achievements to his family, fellow professionals and close friends.
