“Passion for dance and Dance for passion"
- Creative Head of “The Dancing Divas”
A
Jyoti Patel, daughter of Mr. Jagnya Kumar Naik from Orissa and is living in Kuwait for the past 12 years and her spouse Mr. Suket Patel and gifted with children Sooryam & Roshni. A casual talk with one of her student – Pooja Varshini Raja was narrated below which brings out her interests….
“My childhood was just like any normal Indian girl who had her passions for dancing, reading and drawing. I was a part of a big and happy family with encouraging parents and supportive brother and sisters. Seeing my keen interest in dance, my sister used to take me for dance practices with her. I gave my first dance performance on stage at the age of 8 and thanks to the Almighty, there has been no turning back since then.”– Jyoti shared on stirringly when asked about her child hood and interest in dance.
Did her dance carrier travel with her till now without any break, if any mention..?
“From my childhood, it was there deep in my heart, and I never discontinued from the creativity though there has been discontinuation for couple of years due to time constraints”
What made her to start an institution like “The Dancing Divas”?
Being trained in different forms of dance forms like salsa, hip hop, classical (Odissi), folk and belly dancing,I thought of fusing and harmonizing different forms and creating something different and pass it on to the next generation. Especially in a place like Kuwait where there is so much talent which has gone unrecognized, I wanted The Dancing Divas to be an alma mater for them in the field of dance and provide them with a platform to exhibit their talent to the outside world. It is my humble way to give back something to the world of dance.
When queried about her inspirations, - “As I mentioned before every dancer is different and I like something or the other in all the dancers. And we have a lot of guru, talented performers and choreographers in India like Kelucharan Mohapatra, Saroj Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Hema Malini, Remo Fernandez, Prabhu Deva just to name a few. But Madhuri Dixit has always been my personal favorite. The beauty of her expressions and the grace in her movements has always kept her apart as a dancer with panache. As a child, when I used to dance, I always used to envisage myself in her place.”
On admiring on the above contents, I finally requested Jyoti to elaborate about “The dancing Divas”
